Revise and sit a GCSE in something you know nothing about - russian, maybe, or electronics. Old exam papers are easy to get hold of.

Do not use electricity (other than at work) for a month.

Do not use the internet for a month (you can keep us updated via letters).

Do not use a mobile phone for a month.

Live for a month on twenty pounds.

Spend a month eating nothing but Krispy Kreme Donuts

You need metrics. That'll give the blog something concrete to report on.

If you want to orient the blog around weight loss, you should track daily calorie intakes for everything you eat and drink, and approximiate calorie expenditures on exercise. Cross reference this with daily weight measurements etc.

Alternatively, orient it around fitness. Take a few basic measures, like maximum bench press, time to do 10 reps of some weight, time to run a 100m sprint, something like that. Repeat these measurements weekly to chart your progress and put that in a sidebar on the blog or somesuch.

I could do this, though it would be challenging to keep track of it all. The real question is, Dr. would anyone reading it really care enough to make it worth the hassle?

It's not that hard, I did it for about six months once as an experiment. You need a PDA loaded up with a food database. I used CalorieKing on my Palm but there are many alternatives.

Blog Stats

Total views: 8,294
Busiest day: 645 — Wednesday, July 23, 2008
Views today: 144

Usually averages about 250-300. No ad revenue on account of there being no ads :D

I'm all for metrics but unless everyone reckons its an awesome thing that's absolutely essential, it's a lot of effort. I could give rough estimates at a minimum, I suppose, FWIW.

Sheepeh as soon as I publicised the idea I haven't been able to *stop* yawning and feeling tired. Bad sign.

The world needs another diet/excercise blog. I say get right on it! Isn't there a more interesting way to work out than going to the gym? Like rollerblading or something. I dunno, something worth writing about anyway.

I'm with you on that, I personally don't give too much of a shit about what exercise other people are up to. The only point of interest I suppose is taking a lazy shit (like me) and forcing me to exercise an unnatural amount of times a week (like 6), and seeing what happens after a month. Therein lies the minimal interest.

I don't think its necessary to post every day, because day-to-day fuck all happens and is terribly dull. A good blog should be tangentic to the main theme every now and then.

Frankly, I wouldn't, and I suspect that 90% of the other forum users would say the same if they were being honest.

If you want to do something that interests people, it also has to be insane, like the guy that didn't wash his feet for a month, or the guy that drank and ate nothing but Guinness. "I've been to the gym again." isn't that exciting.

You need to jilt your fiancee at the altar and then do a blog about your efforts to win her back by running in the Great North Run, whilst simultaneously trying to get her flash-harry new boyfriend out of the picture.

Oh, and we'll all have money on you not finishing the race so you've got to finish it to prove us wrong.

Via hitchhiking, ferries, and planes, his team made it to Morocco, which I thought was damned impressive.
