Before the impending legal action makes these harder (read: more expensive) to find, and as I've always wanted to dip my toes in the world of DS homebrew, does anyone have a recommended UK vendor for these?

Get an EDGE card from DealExtreme.com instead. I switched to the EDGE and gave my R4DS to my dad. The EDGE is super fast loading stuff, and apparently supports SDHC up to 4gb, though I haven't tested that. It's also cheaper than the R4DS I think- $25 or so.

I realise you specified the UK, but over the last 18 months I've had occasion to get three of the buggers from Deal Extreme, and none of them have given me a second's problem.

No.

But, I can recommend Deal Extreme as that's where I got my Edge card and 2gig micro SD Card for under £25 (inc postage) recently.

Ooh, that's cheap. Wonder if I'll escape customs if I buy three in one go.

The stuff shipped from Hong Kong and was marked as a 'present' to get around import duty.

It took about 10 days I think.

I know it said UK, but they deliver worldwide with shipping in the price. I honestly think they wedge the jiffy bags into the gaps in containers full of other stuff or something, because you can buy something for like $1.20 with free shipping from half way around the world.

I hate these cheap places. I now have an assortment of cables, adaptors, and other gizmos totalling £50 in my basket.

I have three of those in my cart right now (one for work, one for laptop bag, one for bedside table), having bought three (one for living room, one for car, one I broke) from ledshoppe.com ages ago and found them insanely useful.

They're brill. The "PSP" connector (I think) fits my CF card reader and my phone. One lead to rule them all.

Bear in mind that you're liable for import duty on gifts declared over £32.

I nearly ordered one of these yesterday till I snapped out of it and realised I had no need for one.

My order came just under £25. Still cheap if I had to pay duty on it anyway.

Sure, although you'd be paying £14+ to import a £25 order. I really wish they'd update the sodding import restrictions, because they're idiotic and seriously dated. Mind you, the port ones are even worse.

Dealextreme are completely awesome. I ordered myself a cheapo 4 port USB2.0 hub so that I can finally plug everything into my Xbox behind the machine instead of having cables uglyly drooping out of its face. I ended up buying 100 little magnets for the fridge (AWESOMELY strong magnets, they rule) and the screwdriver set for the Wii/DS just in case.

Richard,

Dealextreme is free shipping. When I am still a bit nervous at customs opening a parcel and charging me more import duty I simply split up the order into two or three smaller orders, as you aren't paying postage it makes no difference to you.

You must have a lot of stuff. To get above £20 on Deal Extreme, you have to add about a million items to your basket.

I've just discovered that they're now doing spherical rare-earth magnets, not just the disk ones. I have no idea why I want 20 spherical magnets, but I DO.

Along with a USB AA/AAA battery charger, a cheap Wii Zapper knockoff with a laser sight, 10 keychain LED lights and a hundred tiny, tiny dice. Obviously.

Yeah, I really need to stop visiting dealextreme. Every time I go there I spend money, it's getting annoying.

I just bought 100 rare earth magnets, two iPod USB cables and a UV light keychain.

I'm very glad I didn't notice they sold rare earth magnets or I'd have some of those too.

I think we need an "Awesome things DEX sell" thread.

Call it "BEEX FOR DEEX" or something.

The crossbows have mysteriously disappeared off that site.

Ah - there they are. They've hid them. And they're all still out of stock.
