Are there are any other differences between the two other than the size, the different battery and the video out?

Who's got an SNL?

I believe the SNL has more RAM, too. From memory, 64MB vs 32MB on the older model.

Well, my PSP original was a complete doddle to mod, didn't need any of that battery malarkey, just some quick and easy flashing. Although that varies a bit depending on firmware.

As for the Slim, no idea.

Yeah, you need the battery gizmo for the SnL.

The SNL has got video-out, so you can hook it up to the telly if that takes your fancy. I've only got the PortlyPSP myself though, so I've no idea how well that works.

I have a PSP slim. As you've noted, it is thinner - and more comfortable to hold - and it uses less power, but has a smaller battery. It has more RAM which is used for apps like the GPS. UMD based games only use it for caching, faster load times. Ummm, also I think it has a somewhat brighter screen.

Hacking it was easy buT I needed a Pandora battery. Plug in, put in memory card, tap a few buttons and it was done.

And then, the PSP truly comes into its own.

I really liked Hitch. But anyway, The SNL PSP is that bit lighter and does look a little bit nicer. It also charges from USB which can be quite handy. The TV out won't work with PSP games unless you have an HDTV and the HD cable.

There's a plugin called FuSa that appears to let you use any cable with any TV. Ding!

I now have both PSPs to hand.

The PSP's reassuringly hefty coarse plastic and metal skeleton is completely gone in the Slim n Lite, replaced with... air, it seems. Bugger's hecka light. The disc tray from the PSP is now just a light door (which you push open manually) where you rest the UMD and hope it doesn't get scrambled by (or completely destroy) the intricate disc reading apparatus.

The buttons are different. They're now more like the Game Boy Color's buttons.

And... um... the screen colour's slightly different and the speakers are different. I have no idea where they moved them to; there's no holes. The sounds coming from somewhere though.

Which one should I keep... argh!

My girlfriend's home has an abandoned PSP sitting in the shoe cupboard. I've never played on a PSP personally though.

I've been using a Slim & Lite for the last few months. It's much nicer than the old fat model. Much lighter, better d-pad, better buttons. I've never used the TV Out part.

I bought an original PSP (the 'phat' one, as they say in the 'scene') to fill the empty hours in my new job and furiously researched ways to get custom firmware onto the beast.

After buying a pandora battery and actually unlocking it, only then did I actually play some games. Shamefully, the only games that I've actually enjoyed and played more than once are tiger woods 07 (which is seemingly xbox TG06 repackaged) and Brian Lara's Pressure Play (which is Xbox Brian Lara's cricket repackaged).

Oh, and the perceived 'empty hours' in my new job? Non existant. :'(

Isn't the slim one meant to be nicer to your hands?

According to some Chinese site, there's a new PSP coming "soon". Only new feature I'm aware of is a built-in microphone. Perhaps the rumoured Skype client will be built into the XMB.

Apologies for the lack of linkage, I can't remember where I saw it now and google wasn't terribly helpful to me in my admittedly mildly inebriated state.
