ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
I did that with two anti-clockwise rotating scoop-wheels, sitting *above* a ramp ascending to the exit (the balls stay above the pit). Dead easy.
I spent ages before that trying to fire them up out of the pit, or pass them across the top of conveyor-wheel type things, and it just wasn't having it.

I built an awesome horse yesterday to do one of the easy levels (the one where someone built a hangman). It actually looked a bit like a horse, as was the intention, it had four legs with wheels on and a tail. Unfortunately, it kept on falling over backwards, so to get it to make it over the nasty blocks I had to put a wheel on the end of its tail too. It looked a little less like a horse then, but I was still pretty happy with it. I then, of course, forgot to save it.

I did go back and tried to make a working giraffe... but it kept on falling over backwards due to the ridiculously long neck.

my eventual solution

after messing around with 3 windmill type things, that only ever managed to get 3 balls in.

Just need to work out how to do the last one now.

You can only get three of the balls in?

Why don't you drag the last remaining ball into the pit yourself?

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
You can drag one of the balls in, but it won't help your machine.

What your machine needs is teeth, laddie.

I got them all in in the end. just not with the three windmills.

Mr D's design doesn't seem to work on my PC, I end up with the last ball trapped in the bottom left.

And neither does Rev's, unless somehow it eventually rescues that ball from the bottom of the pit, which I doubt :)

Weird, it always works on mine. It just takes a long time.

I have no idea how to do Down Under, though.

I'm desperately trying to come up with a way to do Four Balls without treadmills. I'm looking at buckets, runaway minetrains and flippers. I will post my findings if anything works.

Haha, that's another "not as difficult as it looks" one :)
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
You want a thing to drive off the right hand side of the platform, attached to a "rope" so that it then swings underneath enough to hit the goal. My rope was just 4 straight sections of wood joiner, which I fine tuned until it had the right "throw" to it.

Yeah it's definitely buggy. I just re-ran one of mine that finished "Awash" and it didn't work.

EDIT : And then failed in a different way the next time.

Everyone try my solution

Does it work on yours?

I posted one on the last page, it's a lot easier than most of the other solutions I've seen (if a little boring).

I just view that as an amount of real world uncertainty. If you make something extremely flaky with complex moving parts, there's no way it would work exactly the same twice anyway.

That said, I did see one saved design which managed to be so complicated and heavy that it sawed its way through the landscape, which it probably shouldn't have been able to.

Ta. Funnily enough, though, if you replace the anti-clockwise wheel on the far right with a clockwise one, the whole timing gets screwed up. I guess it has something to do with the way the frame wobbles slightly. Bloody physics!

I went back to the beginning to test out some odd designs and to see how the game works.

This attempt at a drawbridge and battering ram didn't work quite how I intended it to (well, the drawbridge bit did), but it still got the ball there after a quick boot!

:)

Oooh, hang on. This is a more elegant way to design a drawbridge, and removes the need for a battering ram!

I went back to the first levels to try out some designs. Here's one where I was trying to make a flipper that could flip the block on to the goal. I could never make it powerful enough to get the required distance... so I gave up and put wheels on it, turning it into a Fork Lift truck.
