OH THE HUMANITY!

Actually, I just wanted to ask advice on GAMING SHENANIGANS.

Shewolf has boughted me many presents, one of which is a STEERING WHEEL OF FORZANESS so please excuse any crapness while I try it out in the coming weeks. The other is a SLIMLINE PS2 OF SLIMNESS. The last (only) Sony console I owned was the original grey PlayStation, so I'm suuure there's loads of classics I missed out on that CEX now sell for 50p...anyone care to give me suggestions?

I'm going in to town on Friday to look for TopSpin2 cheap, so I'm also looking to build a little collection for the PS2 now, as well. Don't worry about "what games do you like?" type things, just suggest games you liked and I'll pick up a few that look good in the shop. And if it's 50p I'll probably buy it anyway ;)

Happy birthday, oh mate of bezzie. I am jealous of your steering wheel, but have never owned a PlayStation, so I can't give you advice on that one, unfortunately.

I can't wait for our Top Spin 2 doubles matches!

Facebook already told me it was your birthday. I was celebrating it quietly until this thread came along.

Happy b'day ;)

Happy birthday man!

I only ever used my PS2 for Guitar Hero, Buzz and Singstar so I can't help with that bit, sorry.

I'd get the original Xbox versions of the GTA games if I were you - the graphics are better. Ditto for Psychonauts. They are all backwards compatible with the 360.

Which format is best for RE4? I've got a Gamecube and haven't got round to getting it yet.

Happy Birthday! And also: Outrun 2006, We Love Katamari, R-Type Final... and my guilty pleasures: Transformers (not the movie one) and Wipeout Fusion.

Happy Bday! Presumably you are Carl Morgan, Sheepeh? I noticed the birthday on Facebook, but I didn't have time to investigate being at work and all.

Gamecube version has better graphics, but PS2 version has more gubbins and doesn't require a disc swap.

I've got the GTA series on PC, and Resi 4 on Wii. Also have Psychonauts for Xbox 1/360.

You realise I will be like a pig in shit buying up all these games and sitting having a marathon session!

Also: if you like the racing games, Gran Turismo 4 really is quite excellent.

It isn't Forza 2, no. But it's as good as the GT series has ever been.

It is indeed, although it's a little hardcore. I also slightly resent the licence system, but there we are.

I've got a stackload of PS2 games at home but I'm struggling to remember any of them. All of the "Conflict: [XXX]" games are ace, but they're multiplatform. Ace Combat 4 and onwards are pretty good. The GTA games, obviously. Killzone. The Thing. Onimusha.

Um. I'll have a look when I get home and see if there are any excellent ones in the pile that I just can't remember.

Well, I enjoyed GT and GT2 at the time. If it's cheap I'll maybe pick it up but it's not on my OMFGCLASSIC list.

Happy Birthday Sheepeh.
I don't know about everyone else, but I don't tend to wind up on the board index page, so I never see the birthdays. Perhaps someone could set it up so a thread is automatically created whenever someone has a birthday, just so nobody can feel left out.

PS2 games?
Yakuza
Pro Evolution Soccer (no idea which is supposed to be the best version, just get all of them)
Numerous Guitar Hero games
Okami is supposed to be good
Tekken 5
Comedy option - Tokyo Bus Guide

If you have the inclination, I'd recommend installing a hard drive, but I have no idea if you can actually do it with the slim PS2s?

If you fail the tests three times you get a pass I think. You're not at all limited by them.

Ico is nice, on the PS2.

Aye, but a sporadic user, life being what it is. So, I come back after one of my extended absences and everybody's run away. Funny, I thought, I'm sure I showered today. Further investigation revealed that it wasn't in fact my personal hygiene, but I'm sure you knew that already <G>

You may remember me from such threads as... um... something. You convinced me Angel S5 was worth watching. Still not gotten 'round to it tho' ... :)

Heh. So, what did you think, returning after an absence to find PMs from myself and maybe some others, insisting that you join the really cool new forum that we want everyone to leave that shitty old WoS for? Surprising? Shocking?

Aha! I do. Yes. Yes... unlike 3 and 4 which are all about that boring oik Connor - the main turn-off you had, as I seem to recall - S5 is more like the first series, but with all the kinks ironed out, a better cast, some really great characters (Wesley in particular is superb in S5, both as a character and how he's acted out, I think), some superb jokes (Angel S5 is the funniest Buffyverse series, on the whole, in my opinion) and some really shocking sad bits (Angel S5 is the saddest Buffyverse series, on the whole, in my opinion).

Also, you should seriously watch it before someone spoils to you one of the best things about S5, yo, for realz.

Welcome to BETEO! :)

This. They really put some effort into developing Wesley, and proved that he can be a lot more than the comedy British ponce that he was in Buffy.

Ah, but I returned to zero PMs. Hadn't been around for a while, so...

Ironically, I found here from a RevStu post mentioning BETEO/BEEX.

Thanks!

I plan to catch up on Angel, but my time goes in bursts and while I do have some now, it's mostly being devoted to the shiny new Xbox 360 that I got for my b'day. Still got a bunch of Wii stuff to play through too, some of which I got for Xmas... gaming backlog ahoy. One of those "nice" problems.

I also watched Doctor Who S4 in 3 days. I simply cannot abide watching it on BBC America, with ads every 90 seconds or so.

I watched Doctor Who S4 in 3 days also! Mainly to avoid spoiling the end to the series, as it seemed to be on every TV and radio station over the last couple of weeks.

What's your Gamertag, McM?

Doctor Who -- yeah, I wanted to avoid spoilers too, but for me it was just web stuff so it wasn't too bad, aside from accidentally reading something on news.bbc.co.uk. Still, it was minor. To be honest, since I started to watch stuff like this, I've discovered I'd rather watch a show in a burst.

Gamertag -- Not sorted a proper one out yet. The one I used during setup will be long gone.

The '360's downstairs to take advantage of the big HDTV rather than the smaller 20-odd-yr-old blur-o-vision upstairs, but all the network-y stuff is upstairs, and I don't want to pay $100 for the wifi adapter. I am cheap but this one's principle, dammit! $100 for wifi? I can buy an 802.11n router for less! Gits.

I should be able to work around it with various bits of kit I have lying around, but I've not gotten around to it yet as I keep getting distracted by GTA IV. Haven't even actually tried my other new game, Assassin's Creed. I went with recommendations from mates plus stuff I just fancied from reviews, but that's all that's arrived so far. Amazon FTW. Sorry, rambling.

Is there somewhere I should post/PM it when I do sort it?

There's an auto-adder thingy in the sticky post too - it'll send a friend invite to everyone on here.
