Unfortunately PokerRoom doesn't allow you to set-up play money tournaments and haven't found any other rooms that do. We either therefore set-up a real money tournament with a buy-in of $1 or play a private play-cash money game. You get $1000 in Play money and can reload twice a day so there is a limit to the amount of chips available.

They have just about every deposit method imaginable apart from paypal.

Thoughts?

What about one of those Facebook poker apps? Do they have private tables?

Post subject:  Re: Poker Night

Either's fine with me. I have a set monthly gambling budget for stuff like lottery scratchies (the online ones, I'm faaaar to lazy to go to a shop) and could happily change it over to poker for a go. It's money I don't mind losing.

Of course, if people don't want to do that, I'd much rather have a chillout room with play money and good people than a real money game with fewer people.

Post subject:  Re: Poker Night

I think penny stakes or whatever are inherently more interesting than pretend money, but it's a social as much as a poker game so I'm happy either way.

Post subject:  Re: Poker Night

I think to get the ball rolling we can start creating accounts at Poker Room. This will give us a clearer indication of who actually wants to play. $1 is well within the reach of most people I expect so it may just be case of who can't make use of any of the deposit methods in which case I'll happily bung a few dollars across to your account. So if anyone is excluded due to not having a card etc then hopefully it won't be a problem.

There is a referrer programme where I basically send you an invite to your email address. If you accept we both get $50 once you make a real money deposit and play a certain mount of hands. To be honest this isn't great value as PokerRoom other a $100 match bonus to any new account created so if you intend to deposit real money you may as well take advantage of that.

My account name is 'BETEO_Craig' you may want to follow this template. Or you may not. One of the good things about Poker Room is that you can create teams of players with shared kitties so if this becomes popular we can have a 'Team BETEO ' :ninja:

EDIT: PokerRoom is compatible with PC, Mac and Linux. You can download the software or play in browser.

So either you refer me and we both get $50, or I make a new account and get $100? Or am I reading it wrong?

Post subject:  Re: Poker Night

That's about right. You get $100 if you deposit $100. If you deposit less you get that. Money is released once you accumulate so many points.

Regarding the referrer programme: You get $50 once you clear 350 player points at real money tables. There is no set deposit amount as far as I can see.

Well, I'm not going to deposit buttloads of money in to it at once, so if you want to refer me, you're more than welcome.

I assume it gets you *something* free, at least.

I'm fairly sure that I have an account with these guys already. I know I've got at least four accounts with money in, none of which I have used in AGES.

One is Betfair, one is PKR, one is PacificPoker and the other might be PokerRoom.

Given how skint I currently am, I should probably use this money.

It's not letting me back in to my account now, even though I've reset the password. I'll check it again after work, hopefully it's just taking time to adjust on their end.

I've downloaded the client and it's all set up and ready to go on the night, though.

You, Sir, are a genius.

All working fine.

Is there a way to add Friends on it? I notice it's asking me if I want to be part of a "Team". Is that so I can set it to find all BeeX people? I'm now off to work so don't rush to look for answers, I just haven't got the time to explore it properly right now.

Post subject:  Re: Poker Night

I'm certainly up for poker, but any night this week before 10.30pm is no good for me (and of course, such a time is too late to reasonably expect any other forumgoers to be available). Maybe it would be an idea to have a monthly or bi-weekly BeEx Poker Classic, with anyone available at the arranged time taking part. There could even be a league table or something.

Granted, speaking as someone who has yet to sign up to Pokerroom (although I will) and who won't be available for any game this week, I shouldn't be one to make any such suggestions.

Even if it's just Me, Craig, and Myp can show up, it'd at least get it off the ground.

Alas, I'm playing poker in real life on Friday.

I'M AWKWARD!

Tonight is my only free night this week. Next week though, oh next week is another story (actually it isn't, I'm pretty busy then as well).

Go organise teh first one without me, and I'll join in as and when I can make it.

Though, thinking about it, my feyonce might wish to join us, as she enjoys a spot of poker (and she'd play from a different room so as to make it all fair and stuff).
