Nice one, that's my last 400 stars spent.
I seem to have got 3000 points now, anyone got any ideas what I should spend them on?

I can't, they stole my stars then emailed me a month later to tell me they already had.

My account seems to have been erased completely (I'd been using the 'Nintendo VIP' site since the GameCube came out), and they haven't responded to any of the stupidly polite emails I sent, asking them to check it out for me if they possibly have a moment to spare. I had 8000 stars. >:|

Wait for the Alien Crush remake or Mega Man 9, mate. Rondo of Blood might see a UK release eventually, too...

Even if you get the account back you won't have stars, they deleted all stars over 2 years old.

Chuffing Nora.

Damn, it can take up to two days for the link between the website and your Wii to be established. No star conversions for me!

(How much do the cards cost, anyway? I have 2100 stars now.)

I hadn't but now I have. :)

It's good fun so far, but I've managed to get myself stuck with no apparent solution but to quit the game, and I died and went further back than my last checkpoint.

It takes you 5 or 6 full-price games to amass 2000 points, but I'm pissed off about the fact that they've deleted the 8000 I'd already collected.

Oh I get the deleted points issue and agree,

But buying 5 or 6 full price games to get 5 or 6 full price games is a good deal. Especially as Nintendo price their games much cheaper than the other 2 with a typical RRP £20 to £35

Then on top of a that they then give you Super Mario Bros 1 or Super Mario Bros 3 is a good deal, and it's churlish to think otherwise.

A way around the deleted points thing, is to not register them until you've enough to buy something.

Which would be super except they only just changed the terms.

Also, no, it's not "churlish" to expect a promotion they advertised to be worth something, especially when the deletion follows 5 years of charging a game worth of points for a fucking wallpaper. Then they announced you could swap the stars for points, clearly implying a 1:1 connection, then 6 months later changed their mind. Then they artifically ran themselves out of a non-physical good constantly, THEN changed the rules to allow them to suddenly delete points you could never use because the fucking stuff was never "in stock".

It is NOT churlish to be pissed off with them for that.

Bullshit did they imply a 1:1 ratio. From the very start they kept talking about how they hadn't settled on a conversion rate yet. Over on PA pages and pages filled with people debating what the ratio should be.

I totally agree on the deleting points thing (though they did give you plenty of time to get rid of you points - I got rid of my 5000 odd with plenty of time to spare.

Put a finite amount of an digital good up is also cuntish, but I still can't see how people can criticise this step, when it means pointless points for jpegs now can be exchanged for games.

The problem isn't the points to points conversion ratio. It's the cost of the games in point to start with, given how little effort it takes to put a game up on there.

I found it really annoying, that I spent as many as I could in one go to get 500 wii points, to find the only thing I can afford is the internet channel. I don't want the internet on my Wii. I have PCs for that thanks. How about I can get a game, oh no, all the games are <600 points? Why not just give me 600 points then, rather than 500 points I can't use!

All the NES games are 500 points. Get Super Mario Bros 1 or 3. Or the Kirby NES game.

One of the WiiWare games coming soon (Defend your castle) will be 500 points too.

Also I've found the Wii browser invaluable. And it lets you watch iplayer vids on your tv.

Good for you, I didn't have time to monitor their site constantly for the 10 minutes a week they had "stock".

Ha, I didn't. I just checked randomly for a few days. I must have just got lucky.

Also, they were constantly out of stock of the proper gifts last time, so it wasn't too suprising.I'm not saying it isn't an awful system (it really, really is) but I can't imagine getting really frustrated about a small thank you gift.

I've 2800 points to swap, so we'll see how long it takes me this time. (And I'll bump this if I see any.)

NOE can get to fucking fuck.

I went on to bag a voucher, they only had the highest denomination left. Which I could have bought had they not voided over 3,500 of my points.

Get to fucking fuck you utter, utter cunts.

To be fair to Nintendo, I at least was warned about the deletion over a year ago, via email. I managed to use all my stars to points months ago, as they always refresh at 12 midnight. Took a few nights but was easy enough.

It's a free offer they put in the games. If you intentional bought games to get stars then you are a mad man!

And low and behold about a day later, and having checked once I've already got 300 points. Yeay!

They've 300 and 2000 point cards in stock at the moment.

I'm not defending the system, I think it's shit - but people seem to be over reacting.
