Bad start to the session by crashing my Vampire (sorry, no video, fixed up now) and having to ditch my Bixler in a school playing field after a disorientated panic . Got my eye in though after that and chased a van! Went a bit faster through goal posts! Squeezed through a Quad race gate! Landed right at my feet!

Yeah good morning that, I've not had chance to do anything with the video yet but it's basically just things smashing into that airgate. That last crash with the quad was pretty mental, it sheared two blades off but because it was in airmode even though I was at zero throttle it tried to stop the spin induced by hitting the gate which is why it immediately went full power and zinged off towards the other flyers there.

It's the element of danger that everyone loves though.

Also, they put the air gate up so it would totally have been their fault.

Pretty pleased with the unplanned range test it's only got one of those cheapy orange hobbyking receivers in.

Should probably get some insurance really, I doubt he'd have been too chuffed if it had dented his silly Audi lorry thing.

Yeah it's pretty crazy, it's like 500ft high and the top is shrouded by an impenetrable mist. A few have tried to go there but nobody came back, some garbled radio messages, crazed mutterings about giant lizards then just nothing.

My colleague ditched his drone in the river Trent at the weekend. Ridiculously he dived in after it! The Trent is pretty vicious sometimes and you're warned not to go in.

Did he get it back? I'd imagine it'd be fucked anyway.

Yeah, amazingly he found it. Now it's drying out.

Hope he salvages it. How did it happen? Did he loose control or was he showing off in front of girls?

Battery ran out as he was over the water. I've seen the final POV footage as it dives towards the water!

Most of it should survive a dunking in fresh water just fine, although tell him to take off any cameras and leave them somewhere warm for a good few days. Also I'd probably dispose of the battery.

In the continuing quest to get a faster and better quad I upgraded the motors again and also swapped the cheap camera that was on there for my GoPro then downloaded all the latest and greatest firmware updates for the flight controller board and ESCs. Results are pretty decent, still needs a load more tuning but it's starting to get to the point now and I am where it feels like just flying rather than having to fly something:



Also I just added it all up and it's about £500 up there now. Whoops.

Good to be back out again with the planes and quads last night.

Loving the Vampire now I've had a few successful flights (and simple repairs), still scary as fuck getting it to take off, but once it's in the air it's a beauty. Highly recommended Kissyfur!

Even scarier for the crowd of children you nearly killed.

Now selling my original Phantom 1, with upgraded motors and a couple of batteries (which were put into "storage" so should just need recharging)

Any takers for £100? Only problem with it is that one of the LEDs under the motors no longer works.

This is the one that crashed incidentally, but had a replacement body shell and all of the internals are fine

No, but you can strap a GoPro to it easily enough, it has a GoPro cradle.

Ooh, that's temptingly cheap. Probably add that onto my next HK order.

Think there's a lot of hacking into the foam to get the fan unit swapped out on the Vampire.

I do think about maybe popping an FPF camera on when I've got a few more flights under my belt.

I think that they're mostly just better balanced so you hear less buzzing from the motor and more of the whoosh noise from the fan.

I went over mum's the other day and got my cars out, hoping for a run or three. Then I realised I had damaged both back wheels and tyres on the Cougar beyond repair. I need to order some then.

They're the same top and bottom from what I've seen. Have to keep it authentic

You want to look for schemes on ones that crashed a lot then.
