Don't leave it till tomorrow mate. Take the battery out and rinse as much of the car (avoiding elective etc) with shower/tap water and let it dry in the bath.

Mrs JC will kill me if I get sand in the bath dude. We get it in the summer, it's a real sod.If I let it dry it'll come of much easier. I gave the car a good shake off before I left :)

Ed. We've got no garden or outside area dude. That's the price of a seaside flat unfortunately. I've got a big paint brush, I'll let it dry then just brush it all off.

Seriously JC, don't wait. Rinse it under a tap in the sink and leave it on a towel to dry out. The salt will very quickly start to fuck it up otherwise. And that's a nice buggy ☺

I'll see what I can do later. It's oppressively hot here atm I can't even think...

Maybe the kitchen sink...

When I've ran mine on the beach I always use an old paintbrush and get as much off as I can before I bring it home and rinse it off. It shouldn't make too much mess in your bath sink. If it's caked in sand you're effectively keeping the salt against everything so make your excuses to the Mrs and get busy JC.

To be fair the car is like 99.9% plastic.

I rinsed off the wheels under the tap and the sides of the body. Then I found a old dish brush that we never use so I gave it a good brushing :) I think I got some water in the motor, but that's cool I will leave it for a few days to dry properly and thoroughly. I have a new motor coming any way..

I must say I was a little underwhelmed with the performance of the car. No bones about it, compared to the Cougar it's balls slow. Once I get the 15 turn motor in though that should pep it up. I will say though, the battery lasted for ages. I wouldn't have minded half that time to be fair.

I really need to study the tide times. I was sure I had it right, turns out I got there right as it was coming in ffs. The suspension is also pretty pony. I might take it off and oil fill it. The book doesn't tell you to until the last page ffs. Tomorrow I will give it a right good seeing to with a paint brush :)

Was fun smashing sand castles into ramps and then jumping them lol :D

Just needs brushless motor combo and LiPo batteries. Completely new ball game.

In the Kyosho?

Just needs a decent motor tbh dude, doesn't need to be Lipo. The one they give you with it is truly awful. Mind you, it ain't exactly a Cougar is it :D

It was fun though. Not sure I will even be able to keep it in a straight line on the sand with a fast motor in, but it'll be fun trying :D

Once you've tasted LiPo / Brushless there is no other way. :metul:

Post subject:  Re: Radio controlled aeroplanes, and that... and now cars!

That Kyosho is basically the same as my Tamiya DT-02 so a nice 12t brushless combo with 3s LiPo would be nice and fast with great run time.

If I go Lipo I won't be doing it with either of the cars I have now. I would really like a Cat, so the chances are I will just do that.

I'm desperately trying to save money to put toward a schuey Cat. It's gonna be hard with this balmy weather though. I really don't want to cook right now. Can't cook, won't cook (don't fucking cook then) - Lee Evans..

What would be a decent cheap 6 channel tx\rx combo on hobbyking, zarzie? Seriously considering that vampire...

Horrifying incident with the little wing Zardoz got me just now. Took it up for its maiden flight and I think the controls locked out because it jut nose dived in full pelt. A bit of super glue and some tape and it's pretty much as good as new, though!

I got a 2nd hand DX6i that Mark spotted for me, then I just get the Orange RXs from Hobbyking. The Orange TXs they have are supposed to be good though, Kissy.

Shame it came down so hard, looked promising as it took off. Hope it's fixable.

No problem, started building it today actually. Fairly straightforward as the servos, esc and fan are already in.

Sorry I've not been posting much guys. Got a bit side tracked with PC problems !

I won't be buying any cars for a bit now. I'm going to get mine out more though !

I will be racing them both on Weds, will try and get a video this time :)

Also I have a Q... My ESC says (on the Cougar) that the max turn motor you can use is 10. Would I burn it out using a 9?

Yeah, don't think it's a good idea to try that, JC.

I know I wouldn't risk it anyway.

Very nearly finished the Raven flying wing, just need to stick on the wing tips and motor mount. Should be ready to maiden by the time you're back from the Lakes, Mark. :)

Stuck the arms on the bottom of the 250 quad frame too. Need some help with this now, can't get my head around what to do with the electrics. Plenty of guides online but non that include the distribution board.

Well, those Flying Wings are fucking brilliant. 2nd day out with them, 16 batteries through them... and still intact!

If you painted one black, JC, it would look a bit like a stealth fighter :)

Not ran my cars this week as planned. We ended up having to come back early.

It'll be the week after next now. Not too much of a problem because I'm still sorting out my new PC but yeah, bit bummed. Still, I got to see my uncle and he's doing well after his cancer op :)

I'm also skint and on the cadge... Does any one have any motor power wire? with some bullet connectors on? I want to prep my car for the 9 turn motor but don't have any wires.. I'll see what I can find on Ebay.

They really are good, just about the simplest plane you could make but the amongst the best fun.

Tomorrow's not looking too bad either now.

Took the Kyosho out on the sand again. New motor in, 15 turn IIRC. Much fun ! this time I really made tracks haha.

Just cleaned it all off, got it out on the window ledge drying.

Vampire is built and ready to maiden. Went together really nicely, only had to whittle out the holes a bit more on the control horns.

Steerable nose wheel!

OK guys. I've now specced up my Cat and should be ordering it next week. If you go to Modelsport (http://www.modelsport.co.uk) and run the part numbers you can check them for me.

Battery - £27.99 CR171
Or £34.99 CR295
Charger - 4000001 - £20.85
Motor and ESC - ET0421 - £75.99
Pinion - RW4800-26 £3.65
Tyres front - CR146 £7.99
Tyres rear - PL8228-99 £6.89
Low profile servo for steering - AAS645LMG £20.89

And tell me if I could do any better on things like the ESC and motor etc.
