No mate it's kind of shiny really (not gloss though) it's only a tiny tin and I'll be needing it all to back spray the metallic finish.

I'll picking up my new shell from Wireless Madness tomorrow, I can pick you up a can while I'm there if you like they're £4.99. Although if you want matt finish you might be best with primer. What's it being sprayed on? Does it need to be flexible?

Probably, definitely with my car with the roof down.

Do you want me to drive your car or fly your quad then? :)

Oh I've got some matt acrylic spray paint here actually.

Citadel stuff, so you'll have to choose which Chaos patron it'll be used in honour of before I'll allow you to use it.

I was going to matt black the desert buggy shell and then do some post apocalyptic weathering on it.

You're welcome to try the acrylic then. It'll flake a bit but if you're going for 'rustic' it's be fine.

Next week when they get them in at this place in the UK. Same price and still be quicker than waiting for HK.

Flysky GT3C with a receiver (I'll get an extra one to chuck in my drifter too).

Aye, mixture of mad skills, fixed throttle & adjustable blade pitch.

I had a pal that was into that sort of thing. Used to cost him a fortune in repairs from crashes.

Ordered a replacement body shell, motor, props etc. from Quadcopters.co.uk for my Phantom. They were on back-order according to the site, but they took the payment straight away. Wasn't too bothered by that, as up until that point you'd not been able to order the back-ordered items, so I figured they were soon to be available.

That was 2 weeks ago.

E-mailed them today, to find out when they expected them in, to be told that DJI haven't made any body shells available at all yet, ever, and don't seem to be in a rush to do so.

Isn't taking money for something illegal under these circumstances? Or at least against their merchant agreements with Visa etc.?

Yeah I thought so. Just ask for a refund. I'd be tempted to ask for a refund for the whole thing because frankly without spares backup it is completely useless.

You slag.

My second buggy turned up today. Kinda tempted to build it rather than use it for spares :)

Oil dampers turned up for my drift car too.

Not much point in building it is there? It's identical to your other one except with a shit motor.

I could buy a mental motor for it.

Nah, I know. I'm going to sell the two Tamiya ESCs I now have that I'll never use and the two sets of friction dampers along with some other bits that will more than cover my £40 this has cost me. :)

It's a Tamiya DT-02 with oil dampers full bearings almost full aluminium hop ups with a Leopard brushless 9t motor and ESC combo running off a 3s LiPo.

You should put the full spec of your "rig" in your signature, including details of any LEDs.

Quadcopters have sent me the rest of the parts I had ordered, minus the body shell.

Is it worth fitting the new motor etc. to see if it flies properly with the damaged body shell? I don't know if the Phantom has any sensors or anything on it that could allow it to compensate for any damage causing imbalanced flight?

Did you post any pictures of the damaged body shell? Can it be fixed and straightened?

Quadcopters only fly because the board is constantly taking measurements from the gyros and accelerometers and then giving power to whichever of the motors it needs to in order to put the thing where you are telling it to go. When you are building them the thrust lines only need to be eyeball straight so unless it's miles out it should be ok.

I didn't, but I'll see if I can post some. It's not massive damage, I didn't notice it at first, but one of the motor arms is clearly bent "upwards" slightly at the ends, so the motor and prop wouldn't be straight, but more pointing inwards towards the centre.

It wants to be pretty near but it's not super-critical, it's also important that it is still rigid. You'll soon know if it's going to be ok or not, just ease it off the ground a couple of feet before committing to another cross country flight.

Waiting for my new radio gear for it, and the stickers to go on :)

I've acquired a Hubsan X4.

I would imagine that, if anything, this is harder to fly than the Phantom given it's size and responsiveness, but I'm getting the hang of it so hopefully that will translate to better Phantom flying.

Dirtied up my desert buggy a bit:

Primed it, painted the rust colour on and then used water and salt as a mask before spraying the black paint on.

Ooh, I like that.

Not sure how much rust you'd see in a desert, but it's looks way more "solid" now.

Thanks man, it needs something more though, a simple sprayed-on graphic or something. It also can't run at the moment because it needs a rear suspension arm.

That looks great. Make a cardboard stencil of some flames / lightning / "Toecutter" and hit it with Matt white :metul:

Another successful racing session yesterday. My car drove around for a bit before something inside the differential gave up. So I watched Zardoz racing his around for a bit, then asked for a go and promptly drove it straight into my one at high speed, smashing his front shock tower  Fucking cars.

No worries mate, I flipped it over a fair few times on the car park before you had a go, probably fucked it up then. All fixed last night thanks to having that spare kit. Did you open yours up to see what was wrong? Really like my new transmitter.

No where has the alu front shock towers in stock, I'll keep looking out though.

Nah not bothered yet, still not got the new rear suspension arm so there's not a lot of point dismantling it until then. Although I suppose I should just in case there's something else I might need to order. An entire spare donor car is starting to look like a good idea at this point.
