Got all my model numbers and will order Friday as I'm going to be in and out a lot over the next few days. Excited though! It's 4wd too and I've specced up super wide rims and tyres too

I went to the airfield. Wow, the cougar is quick on 'crete. Currently sitting here with throbbing toes, drove the bugger straight into my foot lol.

Yeah, off road tyres get eaten up quickly on tarmac / hard surfaces. Thats why you need a buggy AND and road car.

Hang on, they're not worn through... Did you run some CA (super glue) on the edge of the tyre to the rim, JC?

One good thing about planes is the tyres last for ages.

Yeah they were glued on, but I didn't have the foam inserts for concrete so the forces on them at around 40mph must have been uber intense tbh.

I won't be running it on concrete again, that's what the 9 turn Zonda will be for

I got a Schumacher Code in the end. Same as I have for the Cougar.. I'm a sticks man Mark tbh. I do have a wheel control but I don't particularly like it. I'll order the car kit tomorrow

That'll work fine. Plenty of spare channels for lights and sirens too

Well tomorrow is the big day. Have been skint for ages sorting out my PC but can finally order the car and all the bits I need for it. It'll be pretty rapid too, given 9 turn motor and so on.

WIll need to take it to the basketball court near mum's house. And also, I am going to try and get a decent camera. Not onboard, but just something to record my runs with. The Cougar does the coolest shit when you are ramping it. As you steer at max speed the opposite front wheel lifts up. Looks really badass hehe.

Mustn't forget to do a log this time too.

What do you guys think of this? 1/8th fully brushless and with a Deans adapter I can use my own batteries.

Honestly, I'd never pay that for a car unless I was serious about racing or something. If I wanted something similar for just messing around in a car park then I'd get one of these:

With the money you'd save you could buy some planes.

Thing is Mark that uses batteries and a charger I don't have, so tbh? would work out about £30 less than the car I showed as I can use my batteries and charger with that (note batteries, three instead of the one). Thing is I am really turned off by cars you can't build. I am leaning toward the Schumacher/Zonda combo at around £215 but the problem is after doing £30 worth of damage to my Cougar the other day how badly could I damage a car that's faster, lower, and has an expensive body shell and no bumpers (the body and paint would cost £50). I guess I'm just kind of paranoid about repair costs..

Then there's the fact the summer is almost over, and racing in winter would be a pain.

I think I need to spend some time thinking on it, and if I do go with anything it will likely be the Schumacher/Zonda combo for £215. It's not that I don't have the cash I'm just loathe to waste it. Trust me when I say, even brushed that Cougar is stupid fast.

OK so after selling a few PC parts I decided to get this as it was cheap.



Well I say cheap but it was £99. I have a set of controls and receiver, so all I need is (I think) a ESC and obviously a better motor for it. I think I will paint it a lovely burnt metallic orange or flake metallic brown. Something classic Lambo any way.

Edit. Just picked up a servo for £4.19 lol.

Well it seems I made a bit of a clusterfuck when ordering this car, as apparently it takes special Tamtech parts that you can't buy any more. The ESC is different to a normal one, and the battery is smaller.

However, I'm not too concerned. Modelsport do several very small 7.4v NIMH batteries so I am going to get one of those and then mod fit a regular ESC and receiver. The only issue is going to be finding the correct sized battery and I don't have the car yet to measure it.

Edit. I have also ordered a regular servo and a micro servo so I'm sure I can get the steering working OK.

We prepared the wings for night flying and took them out the other night. First time of trying night flying and I learned a couple of things from it.



First was to not use blue LEDs, I should have known this really as I've noticed before with christmas decorations and stuff that there's some weirdness that prevents your eyes from focussing on them, properly.

The second thing I learned was not to have one central cluster of white LEDs that is brighter than the sun as it makes the rest of the thing a bit hard to see.

Great fun though and quite a few people came up to see wtf was going on.

Sightings of UFOs (literally, but also in the "aliens!" sense) will now go up in your area I imagine

OK, car is here. Did some research and got Tamiya UK's phone number. The car is a Lamborghini Countach LP500S and was made in 2007. It runs on a GT-01 chassis which is 1/12.

Colin at Tamiya says I can easily fit a standard ESC and standard receiver straight in. The only issue is servo and I have ordered two.

For £1.50 from Hong Kong. Looking at the manual the Tamiya servo has two tabs on it, so I may need to fix the servo in with glue or foam tape. Colin assures me that I will get it running with one of the servos I bought, so that's cool.

Yeah, JC, thought it was the 1:10 Lambo on the TT-01 chassis so wondered why you had problems.
Will be a bit of a squeeze using standard sized gear then. Although my M-03 mini has standard servo, 540 size brushless motor, ESC and the rest.

Mark, may as well sell everything else, since we've had those wings nothing has had a look in Unbeatable joy for the price, look forward to taking them out at night again, maybe tonight? Seen some nice light painting done with illuminated wings on a long exposure.

Yeah I've been wanting to do light painting like that since I saw some pictures in national geographic of an RC heli at night. Must have been twenty five years ago.

Too much fun flying to be faffing with a camera though.

Well I started building and the battery I need is tiny. I know I have seen tiny batteries though for around £22 so I'm not worried. I kind of like the fact it's 1/12 given I already have two other 1/10

It's a fiddly sod though, and the parts come from all over the bloody place ! A F J etc. They need to do it like Schuey !

Edit. OK so I finally stopped being a wussy prick and decided to measure the battery compartment.. That IS the battery. PHEW.

Looked at the servo part and there's no way the full sized will fit so it will be the micro I ordered.

YAY ! The parts are actually cheaper than my existing stuffs.

I know it's supposed to be red and changing that is going to be a sod (the wheels are silver right now too) but that is my dream car so that's what I want.

Got some more done last night will post pics later. Standard servo came and does not fit, however, it's only about 3mm too big so I'm certain the micro will fit. Given I am now at the part of the build where you go to the front end I have ordered a micro servo from the UK for £2. I will use the one from HK as a spare, or, if I wreck the UK one modding it to fit.

Got the micro servo and it's less than half the size of the big one so it will 10000% fit. It'll be like throwing a sausage down the Piccadilly line mind !

OK so today I found some time for building. Finished the back end for now.



And fitted the motor guard etc.



And then assembled the steering rack.



Which is now fitted to the car with most of the front end done, will get pics later

Just testing out a new thermal soarer that I may or may not convert to FPV. It's big and graceful and it makes for a nice relaxing change of pace on a sunny day, just stooging around and looking for lift. Didn't find any here even though that spot is usually fairly reliable on a hot day, the bubbles of lift getting kicked up from the roads and houses.

Got some telemetry on this one too so at the flick of a switch I can hear rising or descending tones to indicate lift or sink as well as radio link strength and battery voltage. Then when I get home I can look at graphs, lots of lovely graphs

Very soothing.

Is the camera mounted on the top of the tail fin?

Not really touched the Lambo in about a week. The chassis is pretty much all built though, wheels and tyres and all. I was deliberating earlier about painting it that brown colour but it would cost me around £30 and I really cba. I think I will leave the rims silver, then just paint it black with the paint I already have. Will save a few quid and messing around ordering anything else.

I would imagine once the battery and ESC go in it should be RTR. Took me a while though, and I will never again underestimate Tamiya models. I thought it was going to be a two day thing, turned more into a week thing. It's incredibly complicated tbh.

Need to work on that. Tons of fun once we did get in formation, though. I couldn't follow him in for his landing at the end as the planes are a bit mismatched for speed.

I guess there's a few ways you could do that but it would get boring pretty quick.
