Took the car out again. Found a gravel path... Now I've got gravel path in my shoes, on my clothes, and all over me. But gosh, what fun!

Yeah, top fun running on loose surfaces. Nice when it's been dry for a few days to get the dust up in the air.

Yay for dirt !

And then, booooo :(

And that spelled the end for today's session. I forgot that when I was sticking the tyres on the tyre outer stuck to the rim creating a big dent. So I had to break the glue off to release it and forgot to redo it. Oops.

The car is also all filled up nicely with dried grass now too lol.

Gone full circle in my head and I'm looking at this Vampire again.

Looks tough enough to accommodate my 'flying style' and supposedly glides well too.

Kid in a toy shop at the moment, spare cash and lots of time on my hands.

Drawback to that one is that it's different batteries again to any you already have, also if I was to get one of those I'd get the ARF and put a 12 blade fan in it, some of them sound pretty much like a turbine. e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXDdHdVHzjs

The stock fan/motor will probably make a pretty shrill and unpleasant noise.

Stock is supposed to sound scale from what I've read and heard.

Got a basket loaded now with the Vampire, a 4s battery, receiver and a replacement Bixler with delivery all under £150 :D

Should I pull the trigger?

Definitely, just make sure your battery has a decent enough C rating, 35 constant or so.

What tooth and pitch do you need, JC? Got a load of Tamiya pinions (0.6 pitch). Defo have 17t & 18t, possibly others.

No idea on pitch matey. I've ordered a 25 pin one now. I think any lower wouldn't be good considering this is the 9 turn motor lol.

They're 10mm...

Managed to find some PC screws that fit the motor. Then I went to fit the ESC and it says "Maximum motor turns - 12". So I assume it would fry the ESC? might look into getting a better one then.

Car is finished, will upload a pic in a bit. Bought a 15 turn motor so will wait on that now. Hopefully I can find a good ESC for the 9 turn and will fit that in the Cougar :)

First run on the sand !

I decided to put the crappy stock motor in there and take it out for a run. Sadly I timed it off so the tide was already coming in. I was only left about 50x100ft to race in but it was still tons of fun. Only used the one battery though, time I left there was less than 20ft left :(

Have just bunged it into the carry bag, will clean them both properly at mum's tomorrow :) Will get pics soon...

Don't leave it till tomorrow mate. Take the battery out and rinse as much of the car (avoiding elective etc) with shower/tap water and let it dry in the bath.

Mrs JC will kill me if I get sand in the bath dude. We get it in the summer, it's a real sod.If I let it dry it'll come of much easier. I gave the car a good shake off before I left :)

Ed. We've got no garden or outside area dude. That's the price of a seaside flat unfortunately. I've got a big paint brush, I'll let it dry then just brush it all off.

Seriously JC, don't wait. Rinse it under a tap in the sink and leave it on a towel to dry out. The salt will very quickly start to fuck it up otherwise. And that's a nice buggy ☺

When I've ran mine on the beach I always use an old paintbrush and get as much off as I can before I bring it home and rinse it off. It shouldn't make too much mess in your bath sink. If it's caked in sand you're effectively keeping the salt against everything so make your excuses to the Mrs and get busy JC.

To be fair the car is like 99.9% plastic.

I rinsed off the wheels under the tap and the sides of the body. Then I found a old dish brush that we never use so I gave it a good brushing :) I think I got some water in the motor, but that's cool I will leave it for a few days to dry properly and thoroughly. I have a new motor coming any way..

I must say I was a little underwhelmed with the performance of the car. No bones about it, compared to the Cougar it's balls slow. Once I get the 15 turn motor in though that should pep it up. I will say though, the battery lasted for ages. I wouldn't have minded half that time to be fair.

I really need to study the tide times. I was sure I had it right, turns out I got there right as it was coming in ffs. The suspension is also pretty pony. I might take it off and oil fill it. The book doesn't tell you to until the last page ffs. Tomorrow I will give it a right good seeing to with a paint brush :)

Was fun smashing sand castles into ramps and then jumping them lol :D

Just needs brushless motor combo and LiPo batteries. Completely new ball game.

In the Kyosho?

Just needs a decent motor tbh dude, doesn't need to be Lipo. The one they give you with it is truly awful. Mind you, it ain't exactly a Cougar is it :D

It was fun though. Not sure I will even be able to keep it in a straight line on the sand with a fast motor in, but it'll be fun trying :D

That Kyosho is basically the same as my Tamiya DT-02 so a nice 12t brushless combo with 3s LiPo would be nice and fast with great run time.

If I go Lipo I won't be doing it with either of the cars I have now. I would really like a Cat, so the chances are I will just do that.
