What battery connector do you have on your buggy? The drift car is'bullet' connectors.

Ah, your buggy is Tamiya connectors and I think your controller is for one model only

Get a Flysky GTC3 or similar (like I said in the first place ) they have LiPo battery so you charge them through USB and 10 model memory.

It's Tamiya dude.. I thought about it, and every time I look out of my window and see the tide out I want to race over the sand so badly. The thing is, I don't really want to race a £400 car over wet sand because of the cleaning it would need and the wear on parts, not to mention water. It's salt water...

And for £115 or so I can fuck it up 'til my heart's delight lol.

I ordered a motor last night and have some questions about that so once I'm done my coffee I'll post a pic etc.

Anyone here interested in a Phantom 1? It's stock apart from having four Tiger motors, and one of the ESCs no longer flashes the LEDs (but still works fine)

Can chuck in a load of LiPos too, as I have no need for them.

No idea what to sell it for.

Well at £9.99 it wasn't a huge risk... I want to put it in my Cougar.. However, here are my Qs.

1. I assume that the lower the turns the higher the output yes?
2. I also assume that the faster the motor the quicker the battery dies?

The motor I got is this -

It was NOS and cost me a tenner. I'm not overly fussed about the Sandmaster being fast, that's for fun but due to the open nature of the places I go I would like the Cougar to be seriously fast top end.

Lower turn = higher speed, lower torque

Higher turn = lower speed, higher torque

You can tune things with your pinion / spur gear too.

In my experience with brushless motors in 1:10 cars (road and buggy) 10.5 - 13t seems to be the sweet spot.

I had a 9t brushless combo in a 1:10 2wd buggy and half the time the front wheels where off the floor and it was a joke to handle on anything but short grass, just span out all the time.

2. If it dies... It dies...

Cool beans. Well the Cougar has a clutch remember so I can adjust that it's literally low torque and top end that I crave...

Just FYI small biplanes can be a proper handful and they generally don't take well to being crashed. Just saying like.

Ah, I thought the size (860 wingspan) would have been alright, read into a review about their slow flight ability would have been forgiving for me too.

Just wanted something to fill the gap between my Bixler and Skyraider, the Corsair is a bit much really.

Maybe I should get a bigger Corsair!

There's just so much out there to choose from. I reckon you'd have loads of fun with a little wing of some description, they are loads of fun because they can fly fast and slow. They're also quite relaxing to fly as they're tough as nails and crashes usually just result in nothing more than a bit of a walk. And they don't take up much room at home.

Yeah, that would certainly be disastrous as a first plane (and probably just some pretty disastrous ebay junk at any point thereafter).

The problem is I have a bit of a weakness for those stealth type planes. Especially the SR71 Blackbird...

Took the car out again. Found a gravel path... Now I've got gravel path in my shoes, on my clothes, and all over me. But gosh, what fun!

Yeah, top fun running on loose surfaces. Nice when it's been dry for a few days to get the dust up in the air.

And that spelled the end for today's session. I forgot that when I was sticking the tyres on the tyre outer stuck to the rim creating a big dent. So I had to break the glue off to release it and forgot to redo it. Oops.

The car is also all filled up nicely with dried grass now too lol.

No Bix3's in the UK atm but these are in and look pretty sweet.

Gone full circle in my head and I'm looking at this Vampire again.

Looks tough enough to accommodate my 'flying style' and supposedly glides well too.

Kid in a toy shop at the moment, spare cash and lots of time on my hands.

Drawback to that one is that it's different batteries again to any you already have, also if I was to get one of those I'd get the ARF and put a 12 blade fan in it, some of them sound pretty much like a turbine. e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXDdHdVHzjs

The stock fan/motor will probably make a pretty shrill and unpleasant noise.

Stock is supposed to sound scale from what I've read and heard.

Got a basket loaded now with the Vampire, a 4s battery, receiver and a replacement Bixler with delivery all under £150

Definitely, just make sure your battery has a decent enough C rating, 35 constant or so.

I went with the cheapest highest capacity one listed below the model.

FFS what a noob. Forgot to order a pinion for the Orion motor and the Kyosho one isn't removable.

What tooth and pitch do you need, JC? Got a load of Tamiya pinions (0.6 pitch). Defo have 17t & 18t, possibly others.
