This is the one you want:

http://www.securitycamera2000.com/produ ... u-DNR.html

Make sure you select the 2.8mm lens. If you get one sent from China via that site I've got another you can borrow in the meantime.

Nice one, I'll order one soon. Still plenty to build yet so probably won't need to borrow yours.

Took the Kyosho out on the sand again. New motor in, 15 turn IIRC. Much fun ! this time I really made tracks haha.

Just cleaned it all off, got it out on the window ledge drying.

Vampire is built and ready to maiden. Went together really nicely, only had to whittle out the holes a bit more on the control horns.

Steerable nose wheel!

Question guys. Can I use a regular trans/rec with a brushless system? or would I need new controls too?

Yep. Just need the right ESC with the motor, brushed or brushless.

OK guys. I've now specced up my Cat and should be ordering it next week. If you go to Modelsport (http://www.modelsport.co.uk) and run the part numbers you can check them for me.

Battery - £27.99 CR171
Or £34.99 CR295
Charger - 4000001 - £20.85
Motor and ESC - ET0421 - £75.99
Pinion - RW4800-26 £3.65
Tyres front - CR146 £7.99
Tyres rear - PL8228-99 £6.89
Low profile servo for steering - AAS645LMG £20.89

And tell me if I could do any better on things like the ESC and motor etc.

Don't know a thing about saddle lipos, JC. Do you have to get those due to space inside?

You could save a bit of money and get a sensored Motor and ESC from hobbyking, but I suppose it might be swings and roundabouts cost wise with postage charges from two places.

Yeah the car is 4WD dude. The motor goes in the middle and the two diffs are fed by a band thing. Very complicated, but then after the Cougar that's what I want :) hence why you need the saddle battery (pic).

Image

The only thing I know isn't very cheap is the motor and ESC combo. However, it is an 11 turn so it will be as quick as balls.

11.5t from Hobbyking (that's sensored too) is £46 + postage.

I think I've found a set on Ebay for £47, comes with a program card. Will post it when I'm back on the PC.

That link won't load on my phone but I'll have a look in a bit :)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400727928380? ... EBIDX%3AIT

There go.. I might order the one from Hobbyking though..

Avoid those leopard combos, they're actually smaller motors in a heat sinked casing. Had one in my Tamiya 2wd buggy, didn't last that long.

OK not ordered.. I can't afford that yet any way. I'll probably get the controls first, as they're affordable right now :)

BTW dude any idea on Hobbyking's postage costs? I see the item is based in the UK warehouse..

If your just getting that combo from the UK warehouse it'll be about £6 delivery. I've just ordered some batteries and bits that would be heavier for that much.

Right, well I have changed my mind yet again. Probably a good thing I have a week to think it through.

So I'm not getting the Cat just yet. It would wipe me out financially for another month and basically I've just got done a two month stint nearly with no money in my bank account. Now thankfully Mrs JC takes care of all of the bills and rent (not pays them, I contribute, but yes, different entities) but I don't want to skint myself for another month..

So...

At first I was going to get a Cougar SV2 and fit my 9 turn motor. Then I realised that the SV2 only takes a wider yet smaller battery and you can't fit NIMH. So that was that plan scuppered. So now what I am after is a track/road car. I'm thinking about something like this...

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-lafe ... cts/379577

And then uprate the ESC to a £40 one that can handle the motor, then fit.

What do you guys think? It would be forking fast, that's for sure.

I have a TT-01e and a TT-02, JC. Both are great 'car park racers'. The HK combo I suggested above is what I have in mind, and they go like stink. Can dial it back by using a 2S lipo, but I tend to always run 3S (only giving it full beans on straights).

Here's my TT-01e build thread from Modelsport forum:

http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/16680 ... omsearch=1

Ditched the drift setup in the end (although I might have another go) and just set it up for speed.

OMG you have a Ratfink avatar !

Ed Roth's art is amazing. I had Ratfink decals on my car once hahaha.

I'm also considering this..

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/schumacher- ... cts/383119

And then a Lambo, Pagani or something body. If I can't decide I think I'm going to finish sorting my PC this month. There's just so many cars and I'm really not sure which one I want to build :S

True, true.

I do like that Schumacher though. I will see what shells I can get out of my chosen ones on Monday. Will any 1/10 shell fit it?

It seems the Zonda body will fit the Schuey perfectly. Now.. PC or car.. PC or car.. :D

Hah!

I found one :p

So the next car is going to be a Schuey based metallic orange Pagani Zonda :D

Got all my model numbers and will order Friday as I'm going to be in and out a lot over the next few days. Excited though! It's 4wd too and I've specced up super wide rims and tyres too :D

Ahhhhh shitballs. Guess who needs two new back tyres and two new back rims lmao.

I went to the airfield. Wow, the cougar is quick on 'crete. Currently sitting here with throbbing toes, drove the bugger straight into my foot lol.

Yeah, off road tyres get eaten up quickly on tarmac / hard surfaces. Thats why you need a buggy AND and road car.

Hang on, they're not worn through... Did you run some CA (super glue) on the edge of the tyre to the rim, JC?

One good thing about planes is the tyres last for ages.

A lot longer than the wings anyway.

Theyre both ripped lol. The edges of the rims are so badly worn they won't hold the tyres :D

Yeah they were glued on, but I didn't have the foam inserts for concrete so the forces on them at around 40mph must have been uber intense tbh.

I won't be running it on concrete again, that's what the 9 turn Zonda will be for :)

Sure, although some car people seem to prefer the ones with little steering wheels. Also you could get it straight from HobbyKing instead of an ebay reseller:

I got a Schumacher Code in the end. Same as I have for the Cougar.. I'm a sticks man Mark tbh. I do have a wheel control but I don't particularly like it. I'll order the car kit tomorrow :)

I just don't like it tbh. Maybe I'm just old school...

Well tomorrow is the big day. Have been skint for ages sorting out my PC but can finally order the car and all the bits I need for it. It'll be pretty rapid too, given 9 turn motor and so on.

WIll need to take it to the basketball court near mum's house. And also, I am going to try and get a decent camera. Not onboard, but just something to record my runs with. The Cougar does the coolest shit when you are ramping it. As you steer at max speed the opposite front wheel lifts up. Looks really badass hehe.

Mustn't forget to do a log this time too.

What do you guys think of this? 1/8th fully brushless and with a Deans adapter I can use my own batteries.

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/kyosho-drx- ... cts/369996

I think it's pretty cheap too.

Cheap?

Honestly, I'd never pay that for a car unless I was serious about racing or something. If I wanted something similar for just messing around in a car park then I'd get one of these:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... ouse_.html

Supposed to be ok, it's a rebadged version of some other more expensive thing.

With the money you'd save you could buy some planes.

Thing is Mark that uses batteries and a charger I don't have, so tbh? would work out about £30 less than the car I showed as I can use my batteries and charger with that (note batteries, three instead of the one). Thing is I am really turned off by cars you can't build. I am leaning toward the Schumacher/Zonda combo at around £215 but the problem is after doing £30 worth of damage to my Cougar the other day how badly could I damage a car that's faster, lower, and has an expensive body shell and no bumpers (the body and paint would cost £50). I guess I'm just kind of paranoid about repair costs..

Then there's the fact the summer is almost over, and racing in winter would be a pain.

I think I need to spend some time thinking on it, and if I do go with anything it will likely be the Schumacher/Zonda combo for £215. It's not that I don't have the cash I'm just loathe to waste it. Trust me when I say, even brushed that Cougar is stupid fast.

OK so after selling a few PC parts I decided to get this as it was cheap.

Well I say cheap but it was £99. I have a set of controls and receiver, so all I need is (I think) a ESC and obviously a better motor for it. I think I will paint it a lovely burnt metallic orange or flake metallic brown. Something classic Lambo any way.

Edit. Just picked up a servo for £4.19 lol.

Well it seems I made a bit of a clusterfuck when ordering this car, as apparently it takes special Tamtech parts that you can't buy any more. The ESC is different to a normal one, and the battery is smaller.

However, I'm not too concerned. Modelsport do several very small 7.4v NIMH batteries so I am going to get one of those and then mod fit a regular ESC and receiver. The only issue is going to be finding the correct sized battery and I don't have the car yet to measure it.

Edit. I have also ordered a regular servo and a micro servo so I'm sure I can get the steering working OK.

We prepared the wings for night flying and took them out the other night. First time of trying night flying and I learned a couple of things from it.

First was to not use blue LEDs, I should have known this really as I've noticed before with christmas decorations and stuff that there's some weirdness that prevents your eyes from focussing on them, properly.

The second thing I learned was not to have one central cluster of white LEDs that is brighter than the sun as it makes the rest of the thing a bit hard to see.

Great fun though and quite a few people came up to see wtf was going on.

Sightings of UFOs (literally, but also in the "aliens!" sense) will now go up in your area I imagine ;)

OK, car is here. Did some research and got Tamiya UK's phone number. The car is a Lamborghini Countach LP500S and was made in 2007. It runs on a GT-01 chassis which is 1/12.

Colin at Tamiya says I can easily fit a standard ESC and standard receiver straight in. The only issue is servo and I have ordered two.

1.

For £4 and 2.

For £1.50 from Hong Kong. Looking at the manual the Tamiya servo has two tabs on it, so I may need to fix the servo in with glue or foam tape. Colin assures me that I will get it running with one of the servos I bought, so that's cool.

Zardoz, this is the car here. Sadly the online info is very scant.

But yeah, tbh I am quite relishing that it's going to be a challenge. I was also surprised at how many parts there are, there are easily the same as my Cougar
