Yeah, JC, thought it was the 1:10 Lambo on the TT-01 chassis so wondered why you had problems.
Will be a bit of a squeeze using standard sized gear then. Although my M-03 mini has standard servo, 540 size brushless motor, ESC and the rest.

Mark, may as well sell everything else, since we've had those wings nothing has had a look in Unbeatable joy for the price, look forward to taking them out at night again, maybe tonight? Seen some nice light painting done with illuminated wings on a long exposure.

Yeah I've been wanting to do light painting like that since I saw some pictures in national geographic of an RC heli at night. Must have been twenty five years ago.

Too much fun flying to be faffing with a camera though.

Although it would be a crime not to create some light painted sky dicks.

Well I started building and the battery I need is tiny. I know I have seen tiny batteries though for around £22 so I'm not worried. I kind of like the fact it's 1/12 given I already have two other 1/10

It's a fiddly sod though, and the parts come from all over the bloody place ! A F J etc. They need to do it like Schuey !

Edit. OK so I finally stopped being a wussy prick and decided to measure the battery compartment.. That IS the battery. PHEW.

Looked at the servo part and there's no way the full sized will fit so it will be the micro I ordered.

YAY ! The parts are actually cheaper than my existing stuffs.

I know it's supposed to be red and changing that is going to be a sod (the wheels are silver right now too) but that is my dream car so that's what I want.

Got some more done last night will post pics later. Standard servo came and does not fit, however, it's only about 3mm too big so I'm certain the micro will fit. Given I am now at the part of the build where you go to the front end I have ordered a micro servo from the UK for £2. I will use the one from HK as a spare, or, if I wreck the UK one modding it to fit.

Got the micro servo and it's less than half the size of the big one so it will 10000% fit. It'll be like throwing a sausage down the Piccadilly line mind !

OK so today I found some time for building. Finished the back end for now.



And fitted the motor guard etc.



And then assembled the steering rack.



Which is now fitted to the car with most of the front end done, will get pics later

Just testing out a new thermal soarer that I may or may not convert to FPV. It's big and graceful and it makes for a nice relaxing change of pace on a sunny day, just stooging around and looking for lift. Didn't find any here even though that spot is usually fairly reliable on a hot day, the bubbles of lift getting kicked up from the roads and houses.

Got some telemetry on this one too so at the flick of a switch I can hear rising or descending tones to indicate lift or sink as well as radio link strength and battery voltage. Then when I get home I can look at graphs, lots of lovely graphs

Very soothing.

Is the camera mounted on the top of the tail fin?

Not really touched the Lambo in about a week. The chassis is pretty much all built though, wheels and tyres and all. I was deliberating earlier about painting it that brown colour but it would cost me around £30 and I really cba. I think I will leave the rims silver, then just paint it black with the paint I already have. Will save a few quid and messing around ordering anything else.

I would imagine once the battery and ESC go in it should be RTR. Took me a while though, and I will never again underestimate Tamiya models. I thought it was going to be a two day thing, turned more into a week thing. It's incredibly complicated tbh.

Need to work on that. Tons of fun once we did get in formation, though. I couldn't follow him in for his landing at the end as the planes are a bit mismatched for speed.

Trying to follow Zardoz's mini quad with mine yesterday was like trying to follow a drunk bluebottle resulting in a few near misses like this one:

Would it not be possible for a drone to automatically follow another?

I guess there's a few ways you could do that but it would get boring pretty quick.

You'd get a third-person video each time you flew, though.

You'd also break twice as much stuff.

It was like a really boring map in a brilliant video game.

Hmmm, just watched my slapstick video footage and noticed my quad didn't just drop from the sky when it was far out. Couple of times it happened fairly close and not that high up.

I'll try another receiver in it for next time we're out, worth a go and hopefully it'll do the trick.

Hurriedly threw together a few clips from the weekend. A pretty flight over the beach early one morning and some clips featuring Zardoz's early attempts at mini quad flying.

What happened at 1:27? EMP strike?

Yeah, I dunno Z has been having an issue where it would just die like that. He's got a new control receiver to try. The frames are made of carbon and it can block the signals quite effectively but it should be getting way further than that.

Also the landing at the end was completely unintentional, despite a screen full of numbers telling me the battery voltage etc I had failed to notice it was so low, went to throttle up to go around and nothing happened. Just good luck that I was right on the glide slope to land nearby. It reminded me of when I once ran out of petrol on a motorway and actually coasted into a service station.

Brilliant video, Mark. I'll have to cobble something together myself once I've got enough decent footage. The möbius camera is superb for the money but you can really appreciate the difference with the GoPro.
Fingers crossed the new receiver does the trick in the quad.

Considering selling my Phantom 2 and Phantom 1, I've not used them for a while.

Anyone on here interested?

The Phantom 2 would come with two batteries (worth ~£90 each) and the ZenMuse gimbal, and optionallyy the GoPro Hero 3 Black.
Phantom 1 has about 10 batteries, although whether any of them would still be any good I'm not sure, I stored them at around 50% charge but that was about a year ago.

Someone at work is looking at a quadcopter at around £50 as a present.
Other than "don't do it, they are all crap" what can you suggest?

They're actually all pretty good. I mean if it's one with a camera they're after don't expect to be shooting decent video but other than that they usually all fly pretty well. A Hubsan X4 is probably still a decent choice for an indoor toy. Much less than £50 too.

Yeah Hubsan X4s are good for indoor and windless days. They're under £25 on Amazon, bought two as presents for people this Christmas.

I think eBuyer have the camera versions for £29.99.

Upgraded the mini quad again with more volts, better firmware and new speed controllers with active braking. Still needs some tuning and my thumbs are out of practice but well happy so far:

Exactly, it seems to make the biggest difference when you drop, previously it would wobble.

No thank fuck. Didn't he try saying that he's in charge of the college or something? I know the head of the college and also the offshore side so if he turns up again I'll name drop them.
