That Flash has been there since the WoS days. I always assumed someone just put it there as a placeholder.

Indeed.

I like these two. I really quite like the Konix one, it reflects how many different "ways" the sites are used, Bezzying, forums, high scores, etc.

Right, I've spent much of the weekend working on the other site, and it's mostly done. The only thing left to do, really, is to poke the games you've selected into a database, and to then let you browse the ones you said you've got. Which, erm, is the main thing that it's supposed to do. But everything else is done which is quite a bloody lot. Expect to see something one of the evenings this week. Given that I spend all day prodding at PHP however, I might have a few nights off now ;)

If you're looking for an easy games list it might work to parse the metacritic list.

Ta, but the games list-parsing was the first thing I tackled, and I have - all my usual modesty cast aside - come up with a fucking brilliant solution. That's why, heh, I've got the 'main bit' left to do, as it were. Done all the other 'bits' first.

Still, Metacritic connectivity of a sort, is a damn good idea. Yes. Duly noted!

Wikipedia. Which isn't as barmy as it may sound. But I've just noticed that Metacritic do an RSS feed of 'new titles' for whatever genre/category you're after, so I'm sure I'll add support for that in sooner rather than later, since that'd be a nice easy, convenient way to update it. I'd written a handy-dandy 'automatic' updater that required manual copy/pasting from Wikiepdia. Not as awkward as it sounds! Heh.

I know nothing of this "other site". I come here purely to post utter crap.

Does that make me a bad AND ignorant person? Or just one of those?

Have any techy bods here ever used OpenID at all - ever implemented it? Any stories if so, that you could impart as to how good it is, or not?

I thought the theory of OpenID was good, but that paranoia will always make it under-used. In terms of practical experience, nope, sorry.

For what it's worth I'm playing about writing a few games reviews and will be happy to contribute when the site is up. I'm just impatient and would rather put them on my blog until it is rather than let them languish.
