Smash Bros. is wank. The camera is all zoomy-outy and mashing the buttons seems to allow victory. That said, I'll be buying it anyway, in the hope that it might be better than the last one.

Everyone on WoS seemed to hate it so that wouldn't be difficult. The Cube version was the first I played and although it took a while to click with me, I love it. I'd forgotten the Wii version was finally coming out over here though.. it's been put back so many times.

I'd love to get SSBB tomorrow, but I have no money... EXCEPT!

::fireworks::

I won fifty quid on an Indiana Jones scratch card today!

So I might get it. Except I'll probably buy, um, Metal Gear Solid 4 or just some Star Wars figures in Toys R Us this evening.

Well if total to date spent on scratch cards < total won to date on scratch cards.

but yeah it was just a gentle tease at hearing 'skint' and 'gambling' in the same sentance. But then my last post is about being skint and buying frivolous computer games so I can't talk.

I bought the GC version thinking I could play through it with friends but no-one ever wants to play it, and single player feels like I'm missing something, so it has remained virtually unattended since purchase.

I want to download the demo version for Wii before I make a purchase decision. Wait, what?

Sanity prevailed, a bit. I bought one Star Wars figure, for six quid.

Crikey, it's almost as if a review was linked to earlier saying that.

I loved the GC version. I played it a few days ago, in fact, now I have a Wii.

I think the control system looks a bit dodgy for the Wii one, so I'll wait and see what other people think before I get it.

Also, only Romanista is on my friends list, his being the only one that ever did activate. You all fail.

I have no idea how the wii's friend thing is supposed to work. Is it supposed to tell you if someone adds you, or do you just need to add each other anyway. Does this mean I should just add everyone on the list and then hope they add me back? I also seem to have about 90 miis in my plaza as I checked it for the first time in months the other day.
The 360 is a lot easier.

Pffft. ZP is excellent. He calls shit things shit and mediocre things mediocre. It's just a brief rant about a game from someone who has more idea of what he's talking about than 98% of reviewers.

The 360 method is certainly a lot easier. Nintendo's method is probably deliberate to keep the whole thing more kiddy-friendly. And yes, you both need to add each other and no, there's no notifications.

glad to not be failing, but for the smash bros it is kinda irrelevant since you will have to add a new code anyway.. although mario kart did add an option to invite wii friends to be your kart friends, making the wii codes a bit more usefull,

my friendcode page now also includes a zx spectrum gamertag incidentally, due to the great myspeccy.org

I'm still not sure what i think of the smash bros melee, game, love how it was built up though, with love and unlockables, so that might convince me in time, not going to buy it now though

No, I have never bought a scratch card :munkeh:

Craig got it for me (or rather he gave me the money and I went to Asda and bought it). It's £32-something in there by the way, which seemed a decent price.

OK, so has anyone got their online codes for this?

Mine is 1075-2182-7236

Craig sent me his, so I know his is 3050-2182-7236.

I assume we're being made to have to add each other reciprocally? Stick your codes here anyone who has one, and hope to see you online!

:munkeh:

PS: Don't expect me to be any good.

Got this yesterday. Been caning it all day, it's just the same game it always has been. And I always hated the other ones. But, I'm giving this one a chance and it's growing on me. Still don't think there's any skill involved whatsoever, though. We had 8 people round my mate's last night playing it, including a couple of girls who just don't play video games, and they were winning just as often as hardened Smash Bros veterans such as my mate. Fun, though.

I've got no interest in this game & I don't own a Wiii anyway....

However, it seems there might be a potential problem running this game on early Wii models if this thread is anything to go by :

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/206319/s ... known-fau/

Just thought it might be worth mentioning.

How are the controls for this? Are people using the Wiimote-nunchuck method, is it preferable to use the GameCube pad?

I'm soooo glad I kept my official pads and memorycards with my GameCube, they are impossible to find in shops right now.

I'm using Wiimote and 'chuck. Because I sold my Cube ages ago. (Fuck).

Anyway, it takes some getting used to, but I'm pretty good at it now. I think it's more a combination of Smash Bros' shit control system, mixed with a strange control method that makes it awkward, rather than the Wiimote and Nunchucks solely.

Just got this. As polished as it ought to be with the time taken (It's just like the Gamecube version, only shinier and with more stuff in). I'm none too impressed with online mode though - every game so far, I've notstood a chance... how do I ease my way into this? I frequently used to beat friends on Melee. All of which is irrellevant anyhow, because SNAKE ALWAYS WINS ONLINE. Every fucking game.

I borrowed a copy of this. I think it's the first time I've tried to play the single player mode. It sucks! I tried using the wiimote only control method and that was awkward.

I'm sure it's just as much fun with 4 players as it always was, but I can't remember the last time I had 4 people over that would want to play something like SSBB.

Glad I didn't buy it, really.

I had my first go on the Wii a couple of weeks ago and played this and thought it was awful. Or at least on a par with Small Arms on XBLA.

Mainly because I hate multiplayer games where you can take loads of damage before you die.
