As I subjected myself to the season's second listening of Now That's What I Call Christmas (children were involved), I found myself yearning. Yearning for a song that feels Christmassy but isn't actually a Christmas song, which means I'm unlikely to have heard the fucker 3 times a day. My choice is: Somewhere in My Heart by Aztec Camera. I'm going to make playlist of songs that make you feel festive, without being festive. |

Try “The Bells Are Ringing” by They Might Be Giants. Nothing to do with Christmas but sounds all jingly. |

I was about to reply that this was the right idea but too mind-bendingly discordant to ever be listened to while retaining any sort of sanity. And then I realised I had the Google Santa Tracker music coming through the headphones as well. Without Santa Tracker it's ace, thank you. |

Aha! In that case dig up "Perfect Christmas Single", which I love. |

In sainsburys the other day, they had a christmassy song. over the tannoy. "Toilet, toilet wonderful toilet, don't know when we'll get there" or something I wasn't aware toilets were that christmassy... But it sure beats Noddy Sodding Holder |

Most early music, in particular gregorian chant, plain song, or unaccompanied choirs is sufficient to get me in the mood. There's just something perfectly evocative about Allegri's Misere on a dark winter night that I don't get during the height of summer. |
