New thread because this is going to be an epic film. And Heartly is a complainer.

This is a dorky looking movie for nerds, yet it doesn't appeal to be at all.

The worst kind of badly-written fan fiction nonsense that somehow got a book deal. IMO of course.

It does, because it's utterly plagiaristic and contains not a single original idea. Avoid.

Looks like typical CGI-fest for people who don’t like films.

I thought it was great fun too. And the film will be good because it's Spielberg and he doesn't really make awful films. I dunno, it feels like it's the biggest nerds that are the ones most angered by it.

That's right if you don't like it then it's just because you're too much of a nerd.

I’ve not read it, but the excerpts I have had shown to me were astonishingly bad. Maybe they needed context.

Plus from the poster the main thing we appear to be invested in is a man with insanely long legs.

I've seen this book highlighted in the science fiction section of every bookshop around in the last few months. Read the synopsis and it looked like it's really stupid. Should I believe myp to confirm my bias?

It was bad by his own standards but it's certainly not Alien: Covenant bad or anything like that.

Yeah, it's ridiculous. But great fun. Not everything has to be Shakespeare.

That's fair enough.

Loved the book, just triggering the right kind of 80s nostalgia, and making it feel important instead of just trivial...

but in the trailer i see mainly references to non gaming 80s culture... booh..

Trailer looked OK, but then again they always do.

Reminded me of the Matrix with far more CGI
