I'm literally a stupid fanboy when it comes to all things Alien. Alien3 would have been amazing if it wasn't for the shit alien. Stupid CGI is right...

I loved Alien Resurrection, up until the newborn. Horrible. But until then it was amazing. Ron Perlman takes everything up a notch. Brilliant casting there.

AvP. Hmmm... awful in the cinema, tolerable on DVD but hated nearly everyone in it. Especially the heroine. 'The enemy of my enemy...' FUCK OFF.

AvP2 genuinely is the worst thing I've ever seen and that includes the 45 mins I sat through of Nurse Betty. It's just so unbelievably hatefully poor on every level. EVERY level.

Alien³ was fantastic, you silly bunch - probably the best thing Fincher has done except for Se7en and Fight Club. ARes was some silly fun, with the added bonus of letting us speculate that Ripely might have been pregnant with Clemens's kid when she died.
AvP was bad, but all the nice fanboy touches made it entertaining at least twice. AvP2 was much better.

There's talk of Weaver playing Ripely again - please God let it be a film version of The Female War.

Yeah Silent Hill. Didn't scare me, but I love the old creature effects and slime level. Barkertastic.

I really like all the first three Aliens, and really wish they'd left it there, they formed a very fitting trilogy, I thought. As for Fincher - erm, well he's only done three other films. Panic Room (not seen), The Game (good, but not as good as the above), and Zodiac (which I loved, found very unnerving in places, and which is deffo better than Se7en).

There's loads that you just can't see yet. Hurry up, Gaywood! *shakes fist impotently*

I think he's waiting for me, but then I'm waiting for Craster and Devilman to do stuff too!

Are the reviews ready to go on the site? If so I can put them up this week, just wasn't sure if they were ready and just being dumped into their own section or put on gradually so they each had their own front page mention?

Anyway, time this got sorted I think!

*cracks whip*

I want to do another one too, Played Arknoid DS last night.

My GOD that needs a slaughtering, along, ideally, with the entire dev team and their pets.

Nope, your recollection is slightly faulty there! I've always maintained that he always dies. Even in that awful film about Sheffield Wendesday FeetBalls team, where he didn't (I believe - haven't watched it, obv.)

I remember weighing in on your side in that argument, but can't remember who it was who was denying the existence of the Death Of Bean Syndrome. It was a mad fool of some stripe, though.

I quite liked three. The ensemble of British character actors was quite pleasing.

Despite Jodie Foster, this is worth a watch. Forrrrressssst Whittakkkkker is very good.

I thought Panic Room was dull. My dumb blonde friend I watched it with (who expressed shock aged about 18 when she discovered that North wasn't always the direction she was facing) thought it was predictable, for God's sake.

Am I reading that correctly, and you've given Bad Santa a really high mark, Rev Owen?

If so - yay! I thought I was the only person who likes that.

I pronounce The Rev Owen as officially the best Rev! And the best Owen!

I'd quote it or something, but it's not really that sort of movie.

very much so. brilliant casting and some excellent lines. it's just that alien that lets it down.

really enjoyed the Director's Cut.

Good book actually. I like all the Alan Dean Foster Alien books.

I wonder if the Dark Horse comic storyline would have been better. Probably not though as it got a bit silly after Book 2. Enjoyable though.

A film of 'Aliens: Sacrifice' could have been decent.

In your IMDB account there's a Vote History page. I had to spend a while reformatting it all after cutting and pasting, but, like I said, I was bored.

I'm now going through and voting for stuff I seem to have missed. Hadn't voted for Goodfellas or the Alien movies, for example. (Goodfellas - 10. Casino - 9. Anchorman -8. Dodgeball - 8. Zoolander - 9. Starksy and Hutch - 6. Alien - 10. Aliens - 10. Alien3 - 7. Alien Resurrection - 6.)

ah. I know of the history page.

Apparently my 10s of actual films are...

Carrie (1976) DVD available from Amazon On TV 10 7.4
Clue (1985) DVD available from Amazon 10 7.1
Garden State (2004) DVD available from Amazon On TV 10 7.9
Life of Brian (1979) DVD available from Amazon 10 8.2
Star Trek: First Contact (1996) DVD available from Amazon On TV 10 7.5

Not so sure about first contact a good decade on from casting that vote. The only 1 I've given is to Wolf Creek.

Grim... do you think that Star Trek Nemesis is the best Star Trek film?

Me, I rather liked it, even if was 2 again - it was still good. It should have done better, and stuff.

Nemesis got a bad rap, I quite liked it.

But no, like I say I rated it when it first came out and I really liked FC then, not entirely sure why now.

A quick glance shows I failed to rate Nemesis, but I gave Wrath of Kahn and Undiscovered Country 9s, Insurrection an 8 (seems generous), Search for Spock and Generations 7, The Motion Picture a 6, Voyage Home a 4 and Final Frontier a 2.

That's why you're a rich conservative.

I fear where this will lead, but to follow Dudley's example:

The Undiscovered Country > Wrath of Khan > Nemesis > First Contact > Search For Spock > The Motion Picture > Insurrection > Generations > The Voyage Home > The Final Frontier

True fact - I featured in an advertisement feature for Harold & Kumar in a somewhat popular, and inaccurately titled musical magazine.

Hi,

Having completed this game the other day, I thought I'd share a few further thoughts.

To all of you still struggling through it... Don't worry, there's nothing anywhere near as frustrating as the first driving section in the rest of the game. There's one further driving bit, but it's actually quite pleasant - not too long, challenging but not frustrating. And much more forgiving of little slip-ups.

The free-roaming bit in Chapter 8 goes on far too long, and has pretty obviously been added in to lengthen the game. Having said that, it's enjoyable most of the time. The same content though, if compressed down and the padding removed, could have been a fantastic shorter segment rather than drawn out filler.

The final chapters are pretty good...unforgiving at times, but generous with the restart points.
ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
The decision not to end with a boss was unexpected, and not unwelcome, although I do wish the ending was a little more conclusive rather than blatantly setting up for a sequel.

I think the Penny Arcade guys are on the money with this one. It's frustrating and very crude in places, but it is a genuine attempt to do something different, and I'd hate to see it buried under a mountain of identikit franchise games. It's not as polished as most games, and it's got more than its fair share of rough edges, but there is a diamond in there...

Ok, I'm onto chapter 2 so far. My first impressions are "Fuck me, Dead Rising is less frustrating than this."

I tried playing the demo of this, but after a few minutes of 'click the right stick to blink', I decided things had gone a bit too far.

Thankfully that stops after a couple of minutes.

Alone in the Dark shares much with Test Drive Unlimited. Every time I play I discover a new reason why it's shit, but continue to really love it.

Atmosphere wise AITD is just awesome for instance.

My patience didn't last that long.
Now I've bought a ripoff hard drive though, I may go and fill it with pointless demos.
If they get live working of course.

I assume the demo is chapter 1. If so, the entire sequence on the outside of the building is superb, turn the sound up.

No, it's the very beginning of chapter one, and then cuts to a bit further on.

Oh that's a shame. I'd have used the wall bit to show it off personally.

Fuck me, I'm about to have a pulmonary embolism due to this game - it's making me so fucking angry I want to forgive Dead Rising for all its flaws.

It's also one of the shittest things ever. That demo was awful in so many ways.
