I do not need alcohol for this to happen to me.

I’m feeling very poorly today. Just woke up this morning and it’s like BAM poorly city: Headache, shakes, cold chills, I can’t get warm, dizziness and ears ringing. I’m 50% thinking I should drive up to my folks right now cause I’m feeling a bit scared on my own and if something happens no one would know about it. My dog would probably end up eating my corpse. I should probably leave some food out in case...

There's something about. I've been off work today and yesterday with The Poorlies. Get your folks to come down, instead.

From what I've read, he'd fuck it first.

I personally love it. Shame they couldn't have just kept windows 7 current though. That was the best

I've had no problems with Windows 10, but I had no problems with Windows ME either, so I must be the easiest person in the world to please.

(Unless it's a Mac...)

Windows ME was just inherently unstable. My dad installed it on three PCs for some reason. It destroyed them all and Windows needed reinstalling regularly. As soon as we upgraded them to XP they were fine.

I wish it would stop overriding my settings every Windows Update when I tell it not to automatically update drivers, but apart from that it's ok.

I didn't have a problem with Win ME either, but as I recall it was released around the time of every man and his dog buying really cheap and nasty components or systems from computer fairs. I suspect a lot of the reported problems were tied in with crappy hardware and less than ideal driver support for obscure parts.

XP was a far superior product though and it's had an amazing lifespan.

The one I was glad to see the back of was Vista. It looked nice at first, but I found it slow and prone to problems on the PCs we were using at work so we killed it off quite quickly in favour of upgrades to 7 or downgrades to XP.

I had all kinds of problems with the Creators Update for Windows 10 on both my desktop and laptop. The laptop was blue screening most days with a different error each time. It was driving me nuts till I found it was faulty RAM. The desktop hasn't been as bad, just a few quirks here and there.

Still a fan of Windows 10, but not of the new feature where a lot of the applications and browser tabs are restored after a shutdown. It's a bit like hibernation, I suppose. I'm used to just shutting the PC down with stuff still open and letting the OS close everything.

We can agree to disagree. Unfortunately, my sis-in-law had some probs with her Win 10 laptop again and as usual, I couldn’t find a fucking thing that I wanted on it for ages. And the mail client does look like a kid’s toy version of email. Bizarrely, Edge now seems to be working, but then a lot of auto-updates have installed since I last had cause to curse it, so perhaps that’s why it doesn’t crash as soon as you try to use it.

Funnily enough, I was at the Trafford centre today (and Liverpool One yesterday) and there were loads of large screen advertising displays with windows 10 update notifications slap bang in the middle of them. Sloppy.

We went to the sea life centre and then into the shops. It was fine. Much quieter than I've ever seen it.

Me too. In my head, I associate it with going to the metro centre as a kid. Big shops, Toys R Us, IKEA and *Metroland*!

I fucking loved Metroland. Indoor funfair. It's still there I believe, but it's a shadow of what it once was

So do I. But what’s the point of going to Ikea if you don’t visit the restaurant?

There was a guard on the entrance point to the restaurant, with a wait and queue if 20 minutes to get into the restaurant, just to be allowed to queue another 30 minutes to select your food... then you had a further massive queue to pay (whilst your food was getting cold) and there were loads of people standing around as despite the guard on the restaurant entrance there were too many people in the restaurant to be seated.

We live about five minutes from Ikea so we’ll just go next week when it’s safer :D

Neither have we, before this week. Forget standing an hour for food with a two year old, though :(

Last time I went to IKEA, the choice of drinks was pap. Stuff like peach, cranberry and other strange things.

What's wrong with coke and lemonade?

I've only been to Ikea once and found it rather bewildering. I guess I wasn't expecting it to be so sprawling and with staff that just seem to stay in the background. We had a hot dog at the end and I've had better ones from car boot food vans.

I'm not cut out for shopping in actual shops it seems.

Really? Hmm... maybe they’ve removed it then. I always go for the elderflower or pear, or lingonberry because you can buy comma anywhere. Ikea is for Ikea flavours.
