I have just found out that pretty much all baked beans in the US have bacon in them and you have to buy special ‘vegetarian baked besns’ To get something like the product we have in the UK.

Had a few games arrive from Japan this morning, with Mario stamps on the parcel. :) And a Mario sweet inside. Or laxative. I haven't checked.

It's a cola... Something.

According to my dad, beans over here used to have a piece of pork in the bottom, but rationing ended that.

I remember back in the 80s baked beans often came with really nasty dissolving sausages in them.

Having said that, for all I know, they still do. I've never even bought a can of baked beans.

You can buy baked beans with sausages in them still, but they are a specific sub product of the bean genre. They are a variety. In the US they come with meat as standard. I don’t know if it is slices or lumps or what... it just sounds weird. Also, my friend says that they are full of brown sugar. She’s a Brit just moved to the US and she’s a vegetarian, and apparently they’ve had a hard time finding what we’d think of as beans. She has to find vegetarian beans :D

I have helped a friend move house.

She had no room for this. I now own a Webber bbq.
Needs a clean but should be ok for next year.

Do I need one of those chimney things. ??

Incidentally, in April I got one of the kettle barbecues Morrison's try to sell for £50 for £15 because it was in last year's box. It's well worth that money. It's even worth the £25 they wanted in "fuck, summer didn't happen again" sale

I've gone a bit further for halloween this year. Instead of the usual LED pumpkin on the doorstep, I've got me some rear projection material for one of the windows facing the road and purchased the ATMOSFX Eerie Eyes collection. Imma gonna shit those kids up good!

Mondays are usually pretty bad at my local post office, but lately it seems to have quietened off for some reason. Today, there was only one other person in the queue and that was GJ's eldest, which was a nice surprise. :)

And while I was out, Argos delivered Super Mario Odyssey and Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Battle, so not a bad start to the week.

Last Friday was a pain. Six hours to drive back to Manchester because some twonk in an HGV did something stupid on the M6 in Cumbria, causing a humongous tail back.

Save me from the moaning old farts on Facebook complaining about Halloween being "Part of the ongoing cultural invasion of Britain by the USA, a chain of bogus money-spinning 'celebrations' foisted on us... watch Thanksgiving be the next..." That's a direct quote. It's one night! If you don't want to participate, stick a sign on your door saying "NO TRICK OR TREATERS" and shut the fuck up. Lord knows there's precious little joy in the world at the moment for kiddies, so let them dress up and have fun, you miserable twats.

... is what I would like to post in response to a work mate's friend on Facebook, but I can't be arsed with internet DRHAMAS

Where do they think the USA got their halloween traditions from? They've evolved, obviously, but dressing up and asking for treats door-to-door on Halloween goes back hundreds of years in Britain and Ireland. Tell them to READ SOME HISTORY and STOP TALKING BRITAIN DOWN and that dismissing an ancient British Christian tradition is POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GONE MAD.

We should start celebrating the Mexican Day of the Dead. Nothing like some bling-laden skulls to get the necro party come alive.

I read that Mexicans are pretty happy when others celebrate their things. It's been described as Cultural Appreciation rather and Appropriation. To be clear, it's about Tacos and Tequila, not Ponchos and Sombreros and moustacios.

Yeah avoiding lazy stereotyping is important when it comes to Mexico.

Look, none of us agree with it, but there are still a lot of jobs supported by it, there are traditions, and ultimately we just have to let the Republican National Congress go ahead.
