I may be addicted to the questions on OKCupid now. Highlights so far -
Do you believe guns should be allowed in schools? Is squirting sexy? Which is bigger? The Earth or the Sun? In a certain light, wouldn't nuclear war be exciting?

OK, here we go.
1970, it must have been. I was in the Lower 6th at school and had never had a proper girlfriend, although there had been a couple of near misses.
I'd been eyeing up a girl in the 5th. She had enormous norks, and I don't remember how this happened, but it was probably one of her friends approaching me to tell me that she quite fancied me, and arranged a date for us to meet. I can't actually remember the first date either, but it could have been that we used the flat of a friend of mine. She said she'd had a boyfriend up to recently, but they'd split up. We hung out together a few times, either at my home or my friend's flat and then she told me she hadn't really broken up with her bf so wouldn't carry on seeing me, but her friend also fancied me, if I'd like to go out with her.
So, I'd agreed to meet her friend, who was in the same class at school and who also happened to live in a pub in Chorlton. We were to meet after last orders on Friday night as she would be working behind the bar until then. I'd been drinking with a group of school friends in a pub around the corner from her dad's and went out to meet her outside her place, and promptly threw up when the fresh air hit me, having downed my last pint rather too quickly. I was also very nervous, which probably was a contributory factor for the puking, but luckily she didn't witness that technicolor yawn. Anyway, some hippy friends of mine were having a house party the following day and I asked if she'd like to come with me. She said she would, but would have to be home by closing time for washing up. We hit it off and pretty soon I too was washing up behind the bar at closing time.
So that was it, we were set up by her friend. We married in 1975 and are still together. Not a debutante, but a landlord's daughter is probably better.

You're too kind.
Now that I read it back, there's an element of Gregory's Girl about the thing, you know, one girl helping another to get together with a hapless, unsuspecting guy.

A momentary misread had that as flis wrote: I wanted TheVision to end up the crazy lady. which would've been movie material.
