On the topic of barbecues I bought a couple of these last week, holds 12 chicken drum sticks and lets you avoid turning etc

This was the first time I used them, was cooking on my Kadia fire pit.

Results were inconclusive as I didn't really put enough fuel in the Kadia so they required 10 minutes in the oven to finish them off!

I don't know anything about barbecuing (or cooking in general) but that contraption seems to hold the far end of the drumstick so far away from the actual coals that I'd doubt it's ability to every cook them properly. I don't think I'd risk eating anything coming off that.

I assume you put a lid on for the actual cooking, and with a lid there's no reason that wouldn't work.

Yes sorry! Its one of those ordered it direct after seeing one at a local garden centre.

Bought the 80cm one, it works really well. Although they recommend putting in a 5KG bag of charcoal each time. I didn't do that when I cooked those chicken legs which was the issue.

I used it recently at a family barbecue with the recommend charcoal and cooked for 20 people, also used the BGE for some stuff as well.

I also bought the tripod and some cooking bowls for it, not had time to use them yet as our new baby is consuming most of my time.

There is no lid for the fire pit, think it would have been fine if I had put more charcoal in. Will try it on the BGE at the weekend as that has lid so expect it to work with no issues

The 80cm is £600! You can get a whole lot of grill for £600. I mean sure, if you like the look of it, great, but it's in no way sensibly priced for something to cook on. And it has no lid.

You put a layer of sand into it first which you can alter to raise the height of the coal, even without the lid its fine for grilling, quite enjoy cooking on it really.

You also get 2 stands with it, the higher one is shown in the picture and is for cooking, then there is a lower one for fire pit use.

Get what you are saying about grills, but I have a BGE and prior to buying this we had the patio done and I chucked out 3 barbecues. I toyed with the idea of another BGE, then found this and just fancied something different.

They do a lid but its really just a cover in metal, going to order one though!
