Crazy party town. Local accent incomprehensible. Friendly locals. 'Sunderland' is the name of the place's most respected admiral. Get locals onside by enthusung about him.

Vile place full of self deluded barcode loving trolls. Smells like old chip fat and bin water.

The women dress up nice though and are very friendly to outsiders.

Newcastle's Anthem.

Newcastle's fun, I like it there. I got to be "Honorary Geordie" because I was always out in just a T-shirt.

The parade of bridges across the Tyne is quite dramatic. Also, the metro station at Wallsend is dual language to help any passing Romans.

Local rivalries aside though, Newcastle is a pretty nice place. Closest thing to a proper city the vast gulf between Leeds and Endiburgh. Nice self-contained centre with some really nice architecture (even if the whole place seems focused on the football ground. Seriously, it feels like you can see it from everywhere) and genuinely friendly locals.

If you're going as a 'home' supporter, get yourself a scarf and learn the words to Blaydon Races. There's not much else to learn

Newcastle is the national capital of wearing as little as possible when out for a beer. Which is entirely right and proper.
