I break up today for 10 days off work by booking days around the easter weekend and bank holidays.

I am looking forward to this. I thought someone should know.

Post subject:  Re: Bits and Bobs 48

I usually reach December with shedloads of holiday days left and just book most of the month off. I sometimes, though less often these days, take the odd day off after a gig so I can have a few drinks; and when I do go away properly it's generally only for long weekends as I'd get bored staying longer in one place.

Gaz is also off for the next 2 weeks, but only because I cocked up arranging our London break (he was originally planning on having last week of April off instead of next week) :S

You can't truly cock up a London trip until you book the hotel for the right date but the wrong year. Still, at least I've got another London trip now pre-booked for next year. :belm:

Of course! After the guy couldn't find my reservation I showed him the email confirmation and he took a second to notice my mistake for me. Thankfully I wasn't being all indignant about it or anything or I'd have felt like even more of a prick.

I took F'ske and Owhiowhi to the Toddler Disco or whatever it was on Saturday. I looked fucking great. It was good. The neighbours from two doors down were there, too. Wasn't sure if I should have gone over to talk to them for longer than I did or not. F'sje was quite happy dancing with their kid, but I'm never sure of etiquette in these situations. Fel a bit awkward, too, as, I had a pint (£3 for 1664!) and they had lemonades. Anyway, they are talkative, but I wasn't sure about hanging around and latching on, as it were.

What kind of music were they playing? Did they do the Birdie Dance?

Post subject:  Re: Bits and Bobs 48

I did look great*, never know who might be there, and I could count on F'ske saying "Mummy's gone away..." Cannot attach photo, just imagine me looking great.

£3 for 1664 is dirt cheap.
The music was stuff like The Smiths, Maddness, Florence et Machinum, indie rock, some other stuff from an iPad smashed through a sound system.

*Green and orange Vans, dark blue jeans, tight and grey Brooklyn Brewery T shirt, Oakley Frogskins, motorola 360 all model's own.

I spent the weekend outside. Had an enjoyable hike up and around Ivinghoe Beacon in Hertfordshire on Saturday, then yesterday some friends came over and we filled all the gaps in the patio with concrete. Feel a bit stiff today.

Having a slow day at work. I've noticed that the Christmas lights are still on the big tree at the front.

I was outside all yesterday! I'm currently injured so couldn't play, but I coached first base for two games and umpired a third. We won both our games (I'm allowed to say 'we' because I'm a member of the team).

I missed sunscreen on a spot on my neck and now it's a bit red.

I went there for the first time back in February. Pure train porn: utter delight. The warehouse of accumulated railway stuff was great to explore too.

Mallard is a genuinely beautiful machine. It always looks good in photos, but it's even more impressive in real life.
