Another copy of the image which is interesting if you just look at the grey blocks at the bottom they are obviously grey but scroll it so you can see the top of the picture and they change to red

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!

For the same reason you never notice most of your vision is not entirely in colour vision, and similar things.

He's pots of cash too, by all accounts. :D

Man, that's incredible... another £80k-odd to add to the coffers, I see! What's that in aggregate now? Half a million?

That must be some JC-spec PC he uses; one imagines LEDs whose combined brightness outshine the Sun on hard disk I/O ops.

On my way up the hill from The Village, there is a large house with an overgrown garden and massive pair of gates. Each gate has a single S on it. Found out, last night, it is for Sooty and Sweep as Matthew Corbett used to live there. How exciting. Not seen Topsy and Tim's dad yet, though, but the woman i was meeting lsst night, her son's band is on the FIFA17 soundtrack. Showbiz life, this.

It's semi-automated in that I just have to hit a special link and fill in the location.

But I didn't do it at the time, so that won't help.

Twice this week I've posted from the mobile site and when I hit submit it takes me to the thread, someone else has posted and my post has disappeared. Anyone else have this issue?

I don't think so, it's just taking me back to the thread. Only seems to happen when there have been more posts in the meantime though. There's no 'someone else has posted' message either.

There's a shop in town that sells comic books and board games that's been open a little while, but as neither are my thing, I've never really paid much attention to it. However, I noticed they've started doing videogame nights, with last night being a fighting game night. Fighting games really aren't my thing either, but I thought I'd go along and see how popular it was. I was pleasantly surprised with the turnout - 15-20 people, which doesn't sound a lot, but their website and advertising is pretty poor. As for the games, there were -

- two PCs running Street Fighter IV, one of which was hooked up to a projector
- a Wii U running Smash Bros
- an Xbox One running some Naruto thing
- a PS2 running some Tekken game

All pretty small scale stuff, but I might see if I can help out with lending them some stuff.

I'm not quite sure how the shop itself makes any decent money though - it's a very big shop and they don't seem to sell an awful lot. They serve food and drink though. Their board game offer seems ok though - £10 deposit and you can play any of their board games (from a sizeable collection) at one table all day and when you're done, you get a fiver back.

Sounds great. Board game cafés are an excellent way to try new games and get friends interested in the hobby. It's also good to have a social option for an evening out that doesn't involve drinking (although Meeples in Oxford has a fine range of beers these days).

That sounds ace. There's a similar thing near to me but it's in a pub and of an evening. I keep on meaning to go down and see what it's all about.

Nothing wrong with vegan food! Why do you love killing animals and destroying the environment?

A vegan diet is no better for the environment tbh. Not unless you grow your own food.

I don't mind vegan food anyway (I was one for 4 years), but it would be nice to be able to have the choice.

A pub near me sells exclusively vegan food - but it's food you'd expect not to be vegan. If that makes sense.

It just sounds like plates of steaming hot disappointment.

Er... Why do you think that?

You still need to consume a lot of energy to grow fruit and veg on an industrial scale, plus plastic used in packaging etc.

In fact this article reports that a study in America has suggested that more natural resources are needed to grow fruit and veg than meat. But of course it's more nuanced than that.

I violently dislike foodstuffs being shoehorned into standing in for food they're nothing like. Lean, dry turkey chilli can fuck off too.

Nothing wrong with vegan food! Why do you love killing animals and destroying the environment?

I expected better from you.

A vegan diet is no better for the environment tbh. Not unless you grow your own food.

I don't mind vegan food anyway (I was one for 4 years), but it would be nice to be able to have the choice.

The environmental impact of me tearing up my back garden to grow veg in would be huge. Therefore I'm very definitely saving the planet by not doing so.

Only if you didn't read the study or its findings or any other findings of any other study whatsoever.

A vegan diet is obviously and by a fucking long way environmentally better (and healthier) than one rammed with a shitload of meat.

There are certain vegetables that provide a poor ratio of environmental impact to calorie production due to various requirements, though ALL return better than, say, beef.

There are also limits to it due to optimal usage of land; some is not as suited to growing food crops as much as it would being used for other things. But it would definitely make a huge impact environmentally if humans even cut 25% of meat from their diets.

That doesn't mean I'm not going to eat steaks. I am going to eat steak because it's delicious.
