Finally found an MVS 1-Slot for a reasonable price. Well, reasonable for Neo Geo kit anyway

Means I can use MVS cartridges with my Supergun now.

What's your overall iRacing spend up to now out of curiosity? Not including any hardware.

Including third-party apps and services, £852.18. With 847 hours logged in the sim that's just over £1 per hour.

I've spent £157.78 in 2017.

What's the 3rd party stuff? I had assumed it was a closed ecosystem but obviously not.

SODE iRacing Fuel Calculator: automatically calculates my fuel on the fly during a race, but I can also use voice commands to change tyres, windscreen tear-off etc. Very useful in VR.
Voice Attack: same sort of thing but not as good.
Trading Paints: powerful painting app plus galleries where you can download car liveries for anyone to see who also has the software installed. The basic iRacing painting app is rubbish.

Having to use any kind of command to change components is a cop out! Where's your pit crew? What kind of alleged simulation even is this!?

I'm just sending instructions to my pit crew using the radio like any other driver would. :p

<47.99> FIFA 18 (Switch). Probably cheaper elsewhere, but I was in local indie shop and decided to get it from there while I was out and about.

Really pleased with the game so far too. Haven't really played a FIFA game properly since FIFA 10. 12 didn't grab me, so I lost interest in them for a while, but this is good. Once you get past the initial couple of EULA screens, logging in with Nintendo and then EA Accounts, you can finally get stuck in. Short loading times just a nice straightforward game of footy.

<6.99> Age of Barbarian - Extended Cut.

Looks rather similar to the two old 8-bit Barbarian games, which I played a fair bit. Looks like my next purchase will have to be another SSD though as I don't even have the 5.5gb left to actually install it.

It was down to two beforehand (Outlast and Life is Strange) so I'm actually happy to see it perk up a bit again. I'm also in the middle of SOMA but I don't think that's too long and there's no challenge to speak of.

Yeah, the reviews were pretty iffy and I swithered over it but apparently it's not all that long and it still looks utterly incredible so I'm happy to play through it for the sake of finishing up the trilogy.

<89.99> 250GB Samsung SSD. Not strictly a gaming purchase, but the main reason I'm buying it is to install some of the Steam games I've been buying lately.

Not sure if I'll keep them all as yet or re-sell, but I'll at least give them a go first.

Prey (2017) for PC, retail key from G2A.com

£29.99 from Steam or £14.57 from G2A, and it wasn't any more faff than buying through Steam really.

Took about 45 seconds for the key to come through, activated on Steam, job done, game installing.

Retron 5 3-in-1 Adapter, so I can test Game Gear and Master System games using my Retron 5. Not cheap, but the RRP is £60+, so about as cheap as I could find.

After over a week had gone by without receiving them, I politely messaged the eBay seller to ask if he'd posted them yet. This opened up a case in eBay which the seller took to meaning that I didn't want them any more so refunded my money rather than just responding to my question. Idiot. Apparently he hadn't had time to go to the post office yet, but if I'm spending that much on some games, I don't think he's too unreasonable to expect them to arrive sooner rather than later.

At least I now know why he was so eager to give me a refund - he's relisted it at £330 instead. Dick.

This sometimes happens if an item sells really quickly.

This happened earlier. Bought an N64 & 5 games for £35. Wouldn't be bad even without the games, but one of those was Conker's Bad Fur Day, so easily worth £100+. About an hour later, the seller refunded me my money and cancelled the auction. When I asked why, he got all stroppy and said 'Because you asked me too! Are you trying to mess around here? I don't appreciate this as i have been trying to accommodate you'. I suspect someone else messaged them making them a better offer.

It's fine. I've got an Ian, a Dave and a Sal to play with. :)

I'll probably buy it for both. Because, ya knows, I luffs everyone.

Except Don. Fuck Don.

The plot thickens. Last night, the same N64 turned up on eBay, but from a different seller and this time bundled with a Gamecube and some games for £85 plus postage. I was tempted to steer clear after the original hassle, but I figured I'd take a chance, as eBay would reimburse me anyway if things went wrong. Had a message from the seller this morning, so I feared the worst, but it was them asking for a contact number for the courier, so I may actually end up with the game after all.

(expect a future post where I moan about an empty box turning up)
