Australian Number 1.

The point is that it was a big song by a band who were really popular at the time and to say I was choosing some 'random obscure song' is bollocks as fuck.

I remember the video for Zombie being played loads on MTV and The Box.

Not a major celebrity, but certainly many on here will have heard of him - Bob Wakelin. So many game covers brightened up with his artwork.

Ste Pickford paid tribute to him on Faceballs this morning. (I've had him as a friend for years due to something related to Naked War I can't remember the specific details of. I am pleased to report that he seems to be a genuinely decent chap, as you'd want your 8-bit heroes to be.)

(My Facebook profile pic is the hand-drawn portrait of me that Ste did for my Naked War plaque (signed by both of them!), which the Pickfords sent me for being the second player in the world to reach the rank of Field Marshall in Naked War.)

Ursula K le Guin. Haven’t read all her work, but what I have, I’ve enjoyed a lot. She was always delightful in interviews as well. Even if you haven’t read her work there’s a chance you may have seen a manga or anime film inspired by it.

That's very very sad. I absolutely loved "The Left Hand of Darkness" and "The Dispossessed". Probably my second favourite sci-fi writer after PKD. She also seemed like a great person. :'(

Shame to see him go, but by all accounts he really wasn't the nicest chap at all.

Some great music left behind though.

I had their track 'Blindness' on Chopley's Awesome Playlist up until a couple of weeks ago (where he was clearly so pissed for the recording he couldn't pronounce 'cavalry' and took about three shots at the word), changed it to their cover of 'Lost in Music' when it appeared on my 'Discover Weekly' list on Spotify.

He would be a guest on Radcliffe and Maconie's Radio 6 show from time to time, always smashed out of his head and invariably dropping the f-bomb at 3pm in the afternoon at some point, so they'd have to profusely apologise afterwards.

Would guess he would get the best part of his plea deal sentence so 7 years, then as a celebrity sex offender he would have been locked up 23 hours a day with one hour exercise. No guarantee he would see daylight for his sentence either as a lot of the exercise areas are underground.

When he got out it would be sex offenders register for life with heavy restrictions on where he could go and live.

Little sympathy really, every one of the 50,000 pictures he had was a horror story for children and their families

He's also dead. This is covered up in the episode where Sam comes back.
Speaking of Cheers, the episode with Frasier's Mum is very interesting as her personality is very different to how she's described in the show. Of course, people probably are going to remember the positives when reminiscing about loved ones, and it's established in the show that she wasn't as perfect as they say.

ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view!
She points a gun at Diane, which is probably something many people want to do

Yes indeed, but the fact that he was the advertising man wasn't.

Inquest results now released. Loads of alcohol, downers, depression, and bath - all conspired together.

Ruled an accident, not suicide.

I didn't know she smoked, that would have put me off her a bit.

Yeah but if she'd been necking benzos and other 'prescription drugs' she could have properly zonked herself out.

Still, to actually drown in a bath is fair going some.

That doesn't strike me as very much at all.

I think it is. So that's 0.33 BAC, give or take.

This says that's twelve "drinks" (quantity not defined; I think it's a pint) into someone who weighs 150 pounds.

Also:

Quote:
.300 - Many people lose consciousness
.400 - Most people lose consciousness and some die
.450 - Breathing stops. This is a fatal dose for most people.

Playing around with this suggests that to get a BAC of 0.32, a 17 stone guy would have to drink 13 pints of 4.5% beer/cider/etc in less than an hour. That sounds like a lot to me. Alternatively, an entire bottle of whisky or vodka gets him to 0.29, if drunk in less than an hour. Four bottles of wine gets him to 0.31.

A 14.5 stone guy is "only" 11 pints to hit 0.34, to give you an idea of how weight varies it.

It's 7.5 pints (or 132 oz, irritatingly), according to the little calculator widget at the bottom ([edit] Of the first page)

But according to their calculator I can drink five pints in an hour and still be under 80mg per 100ml. So perhaps it's one to take with a pinch of salt.

Hmm, that one agrees with the "five pints in an hour" theory.

Totally taking a breathalyser to the pub tomorrow to try that out.

I kickstarted a smartband that tells you how much alcohol is in your bloodstream and to alert you when it reaches a certain level. Not had it yet though.

Probably never will with my Kickstarter experiences.

I always struggled knowing when to stop drinking so I thought it might be handy.

However I seem to have a handle on it now anyway.
