Turns out you even get 20 seconds of the bowser castle at the end of world 1.

I don't know. Something's not grabbing me, maybe because it's got "collect all the pink coins in one run-through" type collections to get.

Maybe I'll have another go, but I can't see myself wanting to get every coin in one run through.

It's alright and I'd probably buy it if I could play it offline, but I'm not buying a game that requires a constant internet connection.

I get semi-frequent power cuts, at least one a month for an hour or so. First thing I usually do is play games on my iPad whilst I wait for the power to come back.

Game seems alright, but nothing amazing. It's properly frustrating to miss one of the pink/purple/black coins and not really be able to do anything other than retry.

For me, Mario is at it's best when it's seamlessly mixing platforming challenge with exploration, and this only really does the former.

I've played the "demo" levels. It's very polished, looks great and has all the samples you expect from a Mario game.

Only thing is, if you're after a running game then Rayman has done this better (twice), looks better, has better catchier music and more levels. I'm not sure whether it's more of a challenge than Mario but Rayman is certainly no pushover. And isn't Rayman Fiesta Run free to play? Might be.

This is the Nintendo of the future. Either embrace it or find a new idol. ;)

Mobile gaming isn't real gaming, apparently.

Never liked smartphone games, to be honest. I'm sure that it's a perfectly fine game for what it is, it's just not the sort of thing that I like to play, personally.

Just so you're aware, a Nintendo Account isn't the same as your Nintendo Network account, but you can use the latter to log in as the former. Good skills Ninty.

Fair enough, that's your prerogative. However, you are missing out on some really good games - the smartphone is just another platform, after all, and the type of games available are just as diverse as on a console or home computer. And like any other platform 95% of the games are shit.

It is proper weird how it's full of the kind of stuff is in lots of mobile games to try and drive monetization, but it has no actually monetization beyond the £8 full unlock.

They have specifically described it as not having microtransactions. Maybe they'll add them, but I'd say it's pretty unlikley.

Yep. And you can't use your Nintendo ID except to link it with your Nintendo ID to link it with other people. It's still laughably amateurish and I wouldn't let anyone else get away with it. :D

My sister showed me this game earlier, and it looks pretty remarakably well made for a smartphone game! I think it may inspired me to start a new playthrough of New Super Mario Bros U.

I've now got all the purple coins in the Tour mode and over 3000 toads in Rally mode. I think I've definitely got my £8's worth.

-edit- Over 4k toads now. The kingdom maxes out at level 20. Unlocked all areas with the rainbow bridges too. Just the black coins to get now and I think I'm done.

Only got 37 toads. Up to world 6-3 though, so just the two levels to beat before I mark this as complete.

Completed Tour Mode 3.5 times (all pink and purple coins, half the black coins); maxed out at 9999 toads on Toad Rally; maxed the kingdom out at level 20; unlocked all six areas with rainbow bridges; bought everything in the shop apart from one Luigi statue that I need 200 more green toads for but I can't gain any more.

I think I'm done here.

@myppy, well you could lose some red races on purpose and then try to participate only in green races,,

Yes, I could... but I'm not going to. You have to do well enough so you actually gain some toads to lose, but not so well that you win. Fuck that.

New update has put in an easy mode where you get unlimited time and bubbles (although coloured coins don't count). Plus it's harder to lose toads in Rally mode.

This is quantitive easing! They've lowered the value of the toad in my pocket! It's not like the game was hard before. Just takes a bit of practice. Jeez.
