Went to the movie with my 7-year old daughter.. (first checked with the cinema if it was allowed), cinema had a new 'premium' room with Special glasses with some chip in them.. i was mightily impressed by the 3d... especially e.g. the scene when the chief scientist (forgot his name) looks out from the comms tower on the battlefield... you really felt if you were looking outside..

And my 7 year old thought it was quite funny..

We took our 4.5 week old baby with us when see this last night. He was in one of those snuggly wrappy things, up tight against Lady T's bewbies so he slept through most of it. A few of the louder PEW PEW bits (and one or two of the loud musical stabs) startled him a bit though, which was quite funny.

My few cents, the start seemed a little slow and I wasn't sure if I was really 'feeling it' but once the action started it was really exciting and quite thrilling. A nice piece of cinema escapism for us. I really felt like it conveyed the immense scale of the bigger space ships, as well as the menace and threat posed (by the death star but also especially the

I thought Rogue One was quite good but severely lacking characters with whom you could empathise. Jynn was pathetic when she needed to appear to be strong and street smart.

I didn't like her keeping her posh accent despite supposedly living with terrorists and on the streets from about 5 years old but also cutting from being found by Forest whitaker to being taken by the Rebels really was too much of a jump. Just 10 minutes of her surviving on the streets getting into scrapes would have been much better and shorten some of the ridiculous planet hopping.

I did enjoy the weighty feel to the environments and the dirtiness of them and some action sequences toward the end were good. I wasn't impressed with the space battles as I just felt the rebels were making a mess of everything by turning up there. Things were going just fine until they showed up.

I think it struggled tonally to be a 'darker' film and be Star Wars. Too many nods to the franchise as a whole which compromised the tone. They should have made it more standalone in feel, get rid of things like male female daring do couple with droid in tow.

Saw this last night. It was OK. Enjoyable. Felt a bit cheesy - a bit 'forced' in places - but I guess that's par for the course with the Star Wars films.

Saw this last night as well. It's ok. To me, the direction didn't feel very cohesive. It's quite underlit in a documentary style, with very short depth of field in many of the character shots for at least the first 30 mins. Almost like they're trying to create a more intimate atmosphere, but it sits at odds with the shorthand nature in which they're treating the narrative and character development. The ending is exciting in a way that we've come to expect from a SW action sequence though done better than the originals because of tech.

It feels very much like they re-imagined/rescued this movie in the editing suite. Really not sure about Gareth Edwards as a director and whether he has the experience to really do something like this justice as he's gone from micro budget film that got noticed, to big budget film that was a bit of a mess to this. He certainly seems to have a blessed career, however.
