I want a mouse for my laptop. I currently have a wired Microsoft Intellimouse (1.1) but it's getting it's clicks confused these days so I've had to unplug it. I have an ergonomic one at work (not with a track ball), but I really don't know what to get for personal use. I'm more bothered about being able to use it on various surfaces and it being responsive than anything else. I don't us my laptop for gaming.

Any suggestions?

Try using your laptop for gaming.

I like A4tech mice. They're cheap and good. Even my wife who's not a gamer has one.

But the next mouse I'll buy will be the mad catz 3 red, just because it looks like an autobot's hand

This is the one I use with my laptop. I can't remember what made me choose it, probably an offer, but it's served me well so far.. It also has a little slot inside for the receiver for when you need to pack it away.

What about a wired Microsoft Intellimouse 1.1?

It's expensive but I've just bought a Logitech MX Master wireless mouse. 9 month battery life, can connect to up to three devices (not simultaneously though, obv) via either Bluetooth or their little receiver dongle thing, and works on surfaces that most optical mice don't (glass etc.)

It's very nice.

Does the gold look as terrible in real life as it does in photos?

That looks like a more angular version of the mouse I use at home. That's a Logitech something or other. I think I bought it on Gaywoods recommendation?

Maybe under harsh light, but it's more subtle most of the time.

Not that I really care, my hand covers it up the time I'm using it ;)

Not to my mind. A colleague has that mouse and it is very nice. Although personally I'd want something smaller (like the logitech m705 I have) I'd being used with a traveling laptop.

That was actually what I went to do, then I realised that it's on version three so there might be something better now.

I don't really need a wireless one and I rarely take my laptop out, It maybe went to uni with me twice last year, although maybe I'm missing a trick there.

I did look at the one that Grim... linked to for not other reason than it looks cool, but I think it might be more than I need. I just need something that does what it's supposed to, but does it well.

I'll have a look at that link now, thanks for the advice guys. :)

In the wireless mouse thread (or I can read your mind...). :P

I did do a search on the boards before asking. :)
