Waiting for the ice hockey to start. I entered a free sweepstake on the Twitter so if the game's first goal is in the eighteenth minute I'll win a puck. Remember kids: gamble responsibly.

Here's an interesting read about a man who wouldn't leave a property that had been bought for redevelopment: http://nypost.com/2014/03/02/hotel-herm ... park-west/

That guy sounds like a massive prick.

I'm surprised he didn't meet with an 'accident' during the process.

Wow.

I thought it was a sad story myself. Disgraced father, became a recluse, really clever guy but didn't do anything with his life. And getting one over on venture capitalists is always a heartwarming story.

Wanted lots of money but not for himself or not to give to charity.

Being obstinate for the sake of it.

Wouldn't negotiate until he'd seen the other side play their hand, then lawyered up.

Sounds like someone who likes to dick with others just because they can and think it makes them funny or clever.

I should clarify, I was not personally hoping that the guy would meet with an accident, but I've watched a lot of TV where the story made me think that it was where this story was heading.

Or he'd slowly watched his elderly neighbours get kicked out of their homes by a predatory real estate company and wouldn't stand for it.

Meh - it was his home, legally and morally. If he didn't want to move out, they literally couldn't force him to.

The dude clearly had some mental issues and it's a shame he couldn't enjoy the money, but there was no need for him to go anywhere.

Herbie breezed thought Cornell University in just three years, earning a physics degree. He went on to get a master’s in physics, a Ph.D. in physics and an M.D. After a stint at the General Electric Research laboratory, he was named chief of space medicine at Martin Company’s Space Systems Division.

...................

“I wasted my life,” the embittered Sukenik told Grabow. His father had died while he was finishing his medical degree and left him enough money that he didn’t have to work.

“I could have been at the heart of research into CAT scans and MRIs,” Sukenik said. “Instead, I’ve been up here 30 years doing crossword puzzles.”

I found it interesting that he thought he'd wasted his life after being the chief of space medicine at Martin. Clearly that was a significant achievement, but I wonder about his transition from that, and his other work, to becoming an embittered recluse. I wonder if there was a single trigger, or whether it was as a result of some mental condition. Either way, I imagine that after a period of living an isolated life, it would be hard to go back to the mainstream, even though he was still sharp enough to negotiate that final deal.

I just request one of our project managers keep discussions internal to our company.. This is his response

'Rest all resolutions and further forecasts will be discussed within our home team and then we take it up with external stakeholders well prepared.'

I want to punch him in the face!

New Micro Machines!

Would be nice to see some in-game graphics, but the kitchen tabletop made me feel pleasingly nostalgic.

I'm at Pennyhill something or other hotel, apparently the England rugby training place is here. The England Rugby coach just walked past according to a colleague, who got all excited about meeting him. I have no idea what's going on.

My (female) colleague back at the office said it's because I'm a girl. I assume I should report her for sex discrimination.

Had a near miss with a cyclist today. Totally my fault but he graciously accepted my apology. Annoyed with myself as I'm usually so careful with cyclists and motorcyclists, but I didn't see him at all.

Just be thankful that it wasn't anything serious and move on. You'll be even more aware of them from now on. Don't let it play on your mind.
