Our Christmas dinners are awesome. Loads of tasty food, free booze and everyone gets a bottle of champers to take home.

2016 is becoming 'my year of doing things for the hell of it', with me booking random things or seeking out new experiences just because I can. Tonight I'm going to my first opera, Verdi's 'Macbeth'. Although I have long been a classical music fan (my teenage years would have been far happier had I never discovered Mahler), I have always shyed away from opera so this is the equivalent of dipping my feet in the water.

Bootiful! I like the principle. I have just been to see the local Am Dram version of 'Company' - an amateur musical is asking for trouble, but they did pretty well - which is on a similar, if slightly less out there, basis of 'go to see the stuff that there is, locally'. There's so much joy in the world.

Is this some weird sexual thing? (Can't think of the word, like a sexual fantasy; something that turns you on...?)

I can't see anything specifically NSFW in the link, but haven't looked at all the pics, but I guess beware just in case DAVPAZ HAS REPORTED SIDEBOOB:

Fetish is the word.

And yes, I've seen it before. It tends to be an extension of the BDSM thing where people like to be dominated by a more powerful person.

I believe there's also a kink about being... ahem... smooshed by a Giantess.

Oh, and there's plenty of sideboob in the link. Enough to piss off more conservative bosses ;)

Fetish! That's the one. What a mind blank. Will edit the post to mention 'sideboob'. Wth is 'sideboob'? Isn't that the band in Orange Is The New Black?

I googled sideboob with pictures. I wouldn't say that was nsfw, but I guess if bosses are, as you say, quite conservative.

There are bikinis, so some scantily clad women.

I get loads of these emails wanting me to buy stuff from Chinese factories. I think they're probably genuine for the most part but I just read them for lulz.

Hi Mate,

You already buy the carbon bike rim/wheel from China factory directly? If so,congratulations! You get more competition, but would you like to get more source for your more even better option?

If not,it’s your time to think about it to buy from China, actually all the big brand carbon bike rim is made in China, now the workmanship is mature, you should shorter your supply chain to reduce the cost and get the first feedback from the factory to enhance your services.

I have been considering getting a carbon fork from China to replace the hi tensile one on the road bike. It should save over 1kg in weight for £30.

Yes, i have seen those. I know it is the same factories, as the main suppliers. I would be worried about the testing.

I order stuff straight from China all the time. Probably had dozens of orders and never a problem. Although I probably wouldn't do it with anything that I couldn't afford to just write off. The main thing to watch out for is getting stuck with a big tax bill and handling fee but this seems to be a total lottery.

:this: Although I generally order cheap stuff to avoid any potential tax bill.

I'm rarely in a rush for something to arrive, so I'm happy to wait for stuff to get shipping from all over the place. Currently I'm waiting for some Playstation AV cables and the estimated arrival date is between October 24th and November 15th, so nice and precise. :)

Yeah I suppose random ebay sellers is a dodgier proposition. Most of the stuff I've bought is from bigger firms. HobbyKing, Banggood, Gearbest etc. Usually just little bits of electronics and various RC gubbins from a couple of quid up to about fifty.

Still can't quite get my head around how they can ship their stuff all the way from China and then to my door once it arrives in the UK and still offer free shipping most of the time. Even for items that cost less than the couple of quid it would cost me in postage just to send a game to the next town.

:this; I bought 10 little rubber nubbins for my Xbox controllers from China. They cost 99p and came with free shipping. How on earth does that work for them? The jiffy bag they came in looked about 50ps worth.

Because the cost is sticking the container on the boat I think. Once that gets filled with a million billion whizznicks then the cost is small.

I guess but it's still difficult to imagine how they don't lose out on a 99p item once they've packed it, labelled it, sent it over and then got Royal Mail to deliver it.

They recoup most of the cost from the guns and drugs that the rest of the parcels conceal.

I've just jumped through the various hoops on this page to get some cheap games and vote in the Golden Joystick awards and I realised -

- Besides Brofore, I don't think I've played any of the games mentioned.
- I'm glad the voting allows you to skip a category out. Youtube Personality of the Year? Sod that.
- Amplitude was released and I completely missed it. I was a Kickstart backer for it and I'm damned if I can remember if I got it. :S
- that I already one one of the games in the offer. So if anyone wants Spec Ops:The Line - GNQFT-E35IB-MFFXR is a Steam code for it.

Ordering from China. I wanted some maps the other day, bit of an impulse thing: £10-15 on amazon for what I was after. Or about £7 from China, including a world map wall decal. Aliexpress.com is my go to for everything - it's where the S-world minifigures that I used to find on ebay (thanks to Kovacs for letting me know they exist in the first place) have gone to.

I have finally set up that old monitor I have had sitting on a shelf for years as a second screen. I did this so I can watch the chat on my Twitch channel as I stream and see if anyone is actually watching. So if you drop by, say hello and I will see it! And maybe answer.

Of course, this is only if I am streaming from the PC, but you can tell by there being a little webcam image of me in the corner.
