Coming this Autumn, and only supporting iPhone 5 and above, so finally time to upgrade my 4S.

https://www.apple.com/ios/ios10-preview/

Looks to be quite a lot being done with messages to try and rival Facebook messenger.

Delete stocks! yeah!

Do like the idea of the messages app... but all my whatsapp groups include at least one person with an android phone...

Now imagine if Apple made a messages app for Android phones that was compatible across devices the same way as WhatsApp. They'd clean up.

And yes, the biggest win is of course being able to delete the un-needed pre-installed apps.

iMessage for Android was certainly rumoured last week, then notable absent at WWDC.

SMS costs money though, so that's not a good comparison. The point of iMessage was that it was free per message.

Most people have a free text plan, but not so many have free MMS, which is where iMessage consistently wins between Apple phones, and why people use Whatsapp instead of sms I think

Yes. I have 600 minutes, 300 texts and unlimited data but MMS costs so i use whatsapp to send Cras photos of myself.

It's surely easier to list the people who haven't had a picture of MaliA at one point.

I wonder if, by deleting the stock apps, it will actually delete the app (and free up space) or whether it will just delete the shortcut on the Springboard?

Phil Schiller confirmed last night it's the latter. The apps are still in the ROM, they're just hidden.

Yeah, I figured they'd be baked into the ROM. Still nice to be able to get rid of my "Unused" folder though ;)

The iPhone 7 increases hipster jism by at least 120%.

It does. I hate the fact that I can no longer swipe to unlock. Everything else I like.

Can someone send me something with one of the new-dangled iMessage features in? Nobody I know has got the new OS and so all my messages are going to them with (sent with balloons) messages and such, and nobody can send anything fun back :(

I can't get long press to work on the Send arrow in Messages. Can anyone else with a pre 6s/6s Plus?

Weird. So when you select a photo and do a long press on the send arrow it brings up the effects? Or am I doing it wrong?

I just typed a single character (space) to make the microphone turn into the arrow, then did a long press on the arrow.

I'm finding the in-messages apps a bit hit-and-miss. It's found a few of my existing apps, some of which do things, but IMDB and CityMapper just sit their with their icon showing, doing sod all...

Why doesn't it work for me? It's not my long press technique (title) as it works fine with the mic icon to send a voice message. :S

It's taken me all day to get used to the faster response on touching the screen. I nearly turned lag on in accessibility this morning as it was annoying me.

That and the slinking cocks.

Like the widgets although some of the 3rd party ones need some work, my Harmony remote one keeps telling me to connect to the Hub, that's all it does for now.

Also my online banking app has now done away with the 2 sets of passwords and lets me in via a finger print since IOS10

Edit: Just looked at my Ipad and the weather widget is really annoying. On the phone its a just the same as all the others and you can remove it if you want.

On tablets I see the temperature and an icon that describes the weather (so sun today) then a little further down is some text saying "weather provided by weather.com" I also can't remove this widget.

Does anyone have this running on a iPad 4th gen? I've been reluctant to update it from iOS8 since I saw how much iOS9 slowed and and basically made unusable a friend's iPad 2
