I've got a load of chilli plants which are hugely infested with aphids, but the ladybirds round here have been AT IT and there are millions of larvae to bring in.

When you buy larvae, the instructions say 1 per plant, 2 for a severe infestation - we've now got 6+ on most plants (one has 2-3 dozen after a ladybird laid on it, yeah!) and the greenfly are still winning.

For now.

Where do you order these from? I just had my pepper plants covered in green and white fly, but I just dosed the plants with bug killer spray and thats sorted it out. Would prefer to have a more natural way though.

By glorious coincidence, the rampant bamboo in our new garden is super-attractive to ladybirds, so we just have to go outside.

The standard advice is to look at nettles, because that's super-attractive to greenfly but we have billions of acres of nettles (yay buying an overgrown garden!) And not a greenfly on any of them.

The larvae we bought that all died came from Sutton's or something.

When I was younger, I upgraded my bedroom from baby to big boy by covering my Garfiled wallpaper with the pull out posters from Loaded magazine.

My first thought was of the old computer game, Blitz, where you'd fly along dropping bombs on the skyscrapers to clear them out of the way. Perhaps not appropriate for a kid's bedroom though :)

I went to the doctor today because I had a small lump on my breast. It's just a benign cyst with, if I understood what she was saying, an abcess. Or she used cyst and abcess interchangeably... It got confusing and I wasn't feeling well so everything was swimming a bit and is now hazy. Anyway, nothing to worry about. I've been feeling sick and unwell these last few days and I have a high fever which I'd put down to weather/nerves, but she says that's because the pet cyst with pet abcess is infected. I've got a big course of super strength antibiotics, and a return appointment in two weeks.

The yay, though, is just the respect I got at the doctors. I wasn't belittled or made to feel that I had wasted anyone's time. The doctor said I'd done 100% the right thing by asking to be seen, and that was a relief in itself.

I guess the nay is that it's incredibly painful and I feel very unwell, but at the moment the relief it's nothing worse is helping that a bit.

Sorry to hear you're poorly Meems but 100% yes you did the right thing. Boob lumps are not to be messed around with.

Hope the antibiotics kick in quickly and you're feeling back to full strength.

Yes, definitely the right thing to do - Mrs C was at the GP's for something similar yesterday and has been referred for cancer screening - it's likely benign but it's a sensible thing to check just in case.

Your symptoms sound a lot like mastitis Mimi - did the doc mention that at all? (You can get it even if you're not breastfeeding any more.)

If you're not feeling any better by tomorrow it might be worth going back to the doc - if it IS an abscess/mastitis related it might need draining.

There is an abcess, and she said it's basically leaked poison into my body, which is why I've been given such a strong course of antibiotics. I had a thorough breast exam an she said it's not in the milk duct but nearer the surface, but in the case of mastitis would be a wider area of hot, inflamed tissue starting deeper. She did say that the fever and aches might take a few days to clear and I agreed to call again if I wasn't feeling better by Monday or if things got worse. The swelling itself is now giving me less of a problem than the resulting infection though, so I'm hoping my body is just taking a day to pick up and concentrating its work on making the booble bounce back.

She was very good, and thoughtful/reassuring and I wasn't rushed. She asked if I wanted a chaperone for the breast exam, which I was surprised by.

Today we went to West Midlands Safari Park, which was nice as it was where I went on my hen do, and this time went with my family (Russell, Darwin and Russell's grandad).

All went well. Darwin was ridiculously excited at touching a deer nose, a zebra muzzle, giraffe snout, camel noz, and all manner of large animal heads that appeared at the window to be fed or fussed. He was very bold and not at all nervous, and he was introducing Betty to all of the animals.

Betty is his friend. She is a purple octopus with stunted legs. She's from a cartoon called Hey Duggee, and Darwin takes her everywhere. He cuddles her at night, and takes her on all adventures. darwin and Betty were having a great time, until...

Darwin got so excited that he helped Betty jump right out of the window of the moving car in the middle of the safari park. She rolled a bit and got stuck under a car. Then an animal (Latin name 'Some Biggus Animalus') came and nuzzled her, then went off with her somewhere, then she was out of sight. We kind of floundered for a bit and pulled off the track, and flashed the hazards at the rangers truck, which made its way over.

After a thorough description of our missing friend was given, and probably an e-fit or something, they sent out a search party, and our missing friend was located and rescued (no doubt from the jaws of a vicious beast) and returned safely to Darwin's arms.

Look at this true heroine of our time.

Very wise, my sons "Betty" was a small M&S teddy bear, so we had 2 more in case of loss\urgent washing needs

In his case, he got sick of it after 6 months, but some kids go on a lot longer with their favourite stuffed Toy.

Nice picture of him as well :)

Imagine that worker risking her life for a soft toy! Bravo to the West Midlands Safari Park.

My eldest has a stuffed toy that never leaves the house. If she lost him, she'd be devastated. My youngest has 'vesty'. It's one of my wife's old vests tied in a knot that she loves. I know, strange..

You should write to the local rag with that story Mimi - looks like the kind of thing they would love to pick up and celebrates the efforts of the rescuer.
