Spider-Man was pretty great. Mostly for the supporting cast though. Keaton was ace. |

Thor 3 was pretty damned good, mainly because Hulk. Hulk is always good, unless he has the film to himself. I've decided he's basically a comedy sidekick. The only things I was a bit "hmm" about was Hela, who I thought was a bit two dimensional and a bit dull, and I think Thor beat Hulk too easily in the gladiator arena. And what happened to Loki? He was nowhere near as funny or good as a good guy. I liked seeing Dr Strange, and Matt Damon (playing Loki for the second time), Sam Neil and I assume a Hemsworth brother in the play? I assume that was Thanos's ship at the end? Infinity War is shaping up to be quite the thing. So that's the trilogy of trilogy's done. Bring on Black Panther! |

Eh, I thought Loki was really funny in it. Shitting himself when he saw the Hulk, his reaction when finally dropping out the end of Day Strange's warp tube thing, his reaction at being revealed by Thor to be pretending to be Odin at the start; lots of good stuff. |

And what happened to Loki? He was nowhere near as funny or good as a good guy. Two things. 1 - Hulk (not Thor) won the fight comfortably because he’s Hulk. That’s what he does, even in a version that has a tiny fraction of the power from the comics. 2 - Loki wasn’t a good guy at any point; he only inadvertently ended up on that side despite his wishes because Hela was fucking up his house. And him being a devious twat means he totally stole the infinity stone whie saving/destroying the world. But it was ace. And Korg made me laugh out loud a lot. |

They had to stop Thor because he was competitive and gathering popularity, not because he won (though I agree the winner is arguable). |

Given the number of characters they need to cram in to the movie, I can’t see it being anything other than an absolute mess. That said, I am probably going to love it despite the flaws. Either way, excited! The last few Marvel movies have delivered, so here’s hoping. |

meh. i'm sure it'll be another movie where the fate of the entire universe hinges on the titular heroes which of course means that there's no stakes whatsoever because the heroes can't possibly lose. i'll still watch it anyway, obviously, but unless all of the "old guard" avengers die at the end I'll consider it a disappointment. |

Well, they have Avengers 4 coming out the following year (I think), but that is the one that’s supposed to draw the line under the current generation (though likely with some exceptions). |

Ant-Man, Spiderman Homecoming, Iron Man and the original Thor are probably my top 4. |

I think they will be able to pull off that many characters easily. Split them into four groups, give them 20 minutes screentime each. Plenty of time left over for connective tissue, Thanos stuff, and a big spectacle fight at the end. I don't think it will be a masterpiece, but I think it will be a lot of fun. They've never really totally shat the bed, and Thor 2 isn't that bad. With the first Avengers movie, I didn't think it was incredible, but my main impression was that I didn't think they dropped the ball in any major way. They nailed the execution of the team up story, and it resulted in a fun movie. Thanos looks good in the trailer, and it's going to be fun to see different characters and interacting, because a lot of these characters I already care about. Isn't the next one out 12 months later or something? It's like a two parter? |

Here's a list of what the plot says will happen if the bad guys win in each of the MCU movies: ZOMG Spoiler! Click here to view! I've bolded the ones that I feel Infinity War is just going to be a rehash of. It's just nothing new. The marketing is all "it's all been building up to this" but actually it's more "you've basically already seen this at least three times before, but this time there's more heroes!" Anyway, like I say, I'll still go and see it because I'm sure it'll be a decent blockbuster action film. In fact, if anything my moaning is a criticism of the earlier films rather than this one, it's just like the MCU has a severe form of premature ejaculation. //edit: If I was to do a similar list for the DCEU, it would be entirely bolded |

The studio recanted that Avengers 4 is the second half of Infinity War, and changed the title accordingly, but I think they still filmed them together so it’s probably very connected. My favourite thing about the movies is them refusing to let Tom Holland read the script because they don’t trust him with the spoilers |

Sebastian Stan is a massive spoiler giver awayer, too. But he's the most adorable emo bad guy ever so it's fine. There was a picture on twitter the other day, with all the lady heroes in one shot, all dressed normally like before hair and makeup. It gave me feels. I hope Starlord and Thor get to be bezzie mates. With no shirts on. |

How about 'Massive team of powerful superheroes get together and still manage to lose' Because if there's no chance of that, there's no dramatic tension. |

Nah. They’ll obviously win; the result of the entire series is not going to be the annihilation of all humankind. But there might be a cost. Main characters might die. And therein lies the dramatic tension. |

They are definitely going to kill off someone. Also at some point Iron Man is going to put an infinity stone in his chest hole. We'll see a couple of the Avengers retire, and I think Tony is going to give up active service, but take over from Nick Fury. At the end of the movie, there will be a new lineup. Including Spider-Man. Also I think some of the villains sucked into infinity stones will come back (Ronan, Red Skull or that dark elf from Thor 2). |

DavPaz wrote: So he can't be shit because he's black? Think about the bigger picture. Black Panther is really fucking important as the first non-white protagonist in his own movie in the MCU (we haven't had a woman yet, something that even DC had managed, and look at the reaction to WW from women and girls). Calling him shit from 10 mins screen time in Civil War is a bit galling to all those black kids who are Marvel fans who want a superhero who looks just like them. We don't ever have to think about that as being a white male is the default setting when it comes to the media we consume and always had been. Plus the film is directed by and stars mainly black people, who are often overlooked for the top jobs in Hollywood. I can't wait, personally, and hope it's a big success. https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/new ... ry-w509105 |
