You should see the new Harvest Moon game released on Steam the other day... It looks dreadful

Generally agree with this http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017- ... amp-review

It was sort of the magic predecessor to hay day et all. Which just make you work for rewards onstead of making you feel like part of the village. Pocket camp is the exchanging. The magic for monetisinf in part.

Even if though i’m still in love with just beijg there

It’s not that I disagree as such, rather that I think it’s w non-story. It would never be the massive full game experience that the console version is, and I don’t think anyone expected it to be. It’s like enjoying playing scrabble at home with your loved ones, then also getting words with friends, for free and with all of the benefits of take-anywhere mobile play in an instant and then telling everyone that you can’t hear the wooden tiles rattling in the bag.

Author:  myp [ Tue Nov 28, 2017 21:16 ]
Post subject:  Re: Animal Crossing iOS

Except that mobile experiences can be very good and some go down the route of a tenner up front and everything unlocked. They've chosen to go down the freemium route.

In fact in your example Scrabble is a £4 iOS app vs WWF which is free to download.

Nintendo could have easily made a full console experience for mobile and charged £8-15. But they can make far more money this way.

Post subject:  Re: Animal Crossing iOS

No, my example scrabble was a physical board. They said that AC would be free to play and I’m oretty certain ut was quite clear that it wasn’t going to be a full AC game from the start.

Nobody loves AC the way I do. I’d like a full AC release more than anyone in the whole wide world. But I never thought this’d be it. If these magazines and sites writing long articles decrying that it wasn’t the beautiful expansive game of their dreams as have been the full games of the past then it’s a bit of a naive position at best.

Post subject:  Re: Animal Crossing iOS

The tag line in that article literally starts "Animal Crossing has shone as a mobile game before…", so I'm not sure where you're getting the idea magazines are expecting it to be a full release.

Of course it's going to be pared back. Look at Pokémon GO. But it's the mechanics behind the freemium game model that are important. In Pokémon GO it worked fine and you didn't really have to spend much cash (if any). However it seems they've taken a different path here. That is what the complaints are about (much like Star Wars Battlefront).

Post subject:  Re: Animal Crossing iOS

I’m on level 34 and not spending any cash has not hampered my play experience at all. I have time Nook, KK Slider, all of the building spaces opened.

Whether you personally like the game mechanic or not, the feeling that you need to spend money to really progress just doesn’t seem true.

Author:  romanista [ Wed Nov 29, 2017 15:42 ]
Post subject:  Re: Animal Crossing iOS

Well that gives hope at least..The KK slider adverts did irritate me a bit...

but as said.. part of me still loves it, and my daughter loves visiting my camp etc.. so that makes it fun...

And makes me forget the problem i have with it, which is that even though you knew somewhere that all relations with the animals were transaction based (quid pro quo) this makes that so explicit...

And I do hope it will manage to surprise me, in the way the gamecube version did, opening it up and suddenly there is a fishing tournament etc...

In a way Animal Crossing (with harvest moon) always was a sort of inspiration to the range of freemium games we saw from Farmville on, but just because it is easy to monetize it, doesn't mean you should do it the easy way..

I am Level 51 now. I bought KK Slider's still and Tom Nook's chair, and have 600+ leaf tickets to spare. I have never bought a leaf ticket. I think a lot of the criticism about the in app purchase reliance of this game was complete nonsense. There is no reliance on it at all, though the option is there if you want it. I can't imagine many people do, but that it is a cynical pay to progress system is nonsense.

Anyway, flower event: I think once you have caught the butterflies they go towards Rover's total whatever happens, right? Then if you pass that butterfly to a friend you still retain the count. So, you can really keep swapping the butterflies between you and a friend until the failing catch rate eventually loses them all... but I think it should mean you can build up a butterfly count by using tehsame butterflies over and over.

600+ Tickets!!! I’ve not bought any but I always end up spending them on stuff.

Post subject:  Re: Animal Crossing iOS

On what? I haven’t really found anything to spend them on and don’t need to speed things up, and that kind of thing.

And to confirm, the butterflies thing works. Russell and I have been swapping the same load of butterflies back and forth and it’s logging them all as fresh catches.

Post subject:  Re: Animal Crossing iOS

I popped a load of butterflies Zardoz's and Jazzy's way earlier for flowers that were without butterflies and that were watered, and watered the ones that were wilted. I'll send the next batch your way, Rick.

Russell and I have cleared all of our butterfly collecting for the reds and yellows, so don't waste any on either of us, though we'll still keep growing what we can and dropping them to others.

Post subject:  Re: Animal Crossing iOS

Rick I dropped you all my topaz butterflies.

If you give all your butterflies away where you can you'll be absolutely inundated with red seeds as a reward. Do not buy any from Lloid.

Also, giving away butterflies does not take away from your tasks count, you only have to collect 80 of each in total and you can do what you want with the butterflies themselves at any point.

Just seen the notice about it, they're also looking to make it easier to ask for help in the quarry and to buy market box items. This is good stuff.

Thank frig for that, I don't bother anymore as it's the most tedious part of the game.
