Artemis simulates a spaceship bridge by networking several computers together. You cannot play Artemis single-player! One computer runs the simulation and the "main screen", while the others serve as workstations for the normal jobs a bridge officer might do, like Helm, Communication, Engineering, and Weapon Control.

Artemis is a social game where several players are together in one room ("bridge") , and while they all work together, one player plays the Captain, a person who sits in the middle, doesn't have a workstation, and tells everyone what to do.

I remember going to my very first LAN party. I didn't have a clue what to expect but it was great. I spent ages sitting around while someone fitted a graphics card for me and then spent some time stealing MP3's off other peoples PCs. I also played Unreal Tournament and was ace best at it.

It was brilliant... This also sounds great but how does the captain see what's going on?

He doesn't. I'm guessing the other crew members inform him on what's happening and he makes decisions. Like in Star Trek.

I suppose that could work but they still had the big screen to look at in Star Trek. I think if I were the captain I'd need something to look at... and no Malc, no need to offer to help me out.

Doesn't sound like it's a rip-off, sounds like they were in production at the same time.
