Sounds like we're going to have to be in and then give you a lift, forcing you to stay for the whole weekend.

(Not an 'in' - I need to speak to Mimi)

Do D&D campaigns not take like weeks to run? Can you even do condensed versions? I honestly know nothing at all about it like.

Campaigns do, by definition, as they are a series of adventures. But you can, of course, also just run a one-off session. It's an infinitely flexible format, so you can run it any way you imagine. One thing you probably can't do much of in a one-off is advance your character's skills. Hmm, unless you ran it as a series of vignettes spaced over a longer period of game-time... that's an interesting idea.

Same here. I'm sure you could do an abbreviated single module in a cottage weekend.

RE: D&D stuff - not coming out in favor of piracy , but various torrent sites have some of the small one shot D&D modules which give a particular area and encounters which i'm sure you could get through in a few hours (or early copies of Dragon magazine which often had small encounter modules as freebies)

There are also all the Tolkien MERP (Middle Earth Role Playing) modules and quite a few of them have small bite sized areas with pre-set encounters and even pre-defined characters ready to go if you want to avoid some of the complexity of setting up your own.

How set-in-stone are the location and dates here? I only ask because, being an organised sort of motherfucker, it would be nice to book my flights/work holidays/cat sitter as soon as I can so I can just forget about it all. Obviously with it being months away if there's even the slightest chance of things changing I won't bother, but it would be nice to tick all these things off my list as 'done'.

Pretty set. Once I call the chap up and confirm then it will be in stone. STONE I TELL YOU!

Just the one cottage this time round, it looks like, unless there is a surge of interest.

That would certainly be convenient if it's no bother. I'll go for the earlier flight then.
