I was listening to 'Thought for the Day' this morning on my way in. The lady on it mentioned some research (Brian Cox had tweeted an article about the same thing )it concerns the amount of time it takes a lie to be discovered based on the number of Co-conspirators. She pointed out using the same reasoning that the whole Jesus thing would have been exposed in about 30 years or so if it were a tall tale. Which caused me great delight.

It’s probably a bad sign ( of something or other) that I spent the last ten minutes staring blankly at my screen contemplating the utter pointlessness of existence.

Since I found out I'll be jobless in March, I've been doing this every day at work.

I was originally on a 2 year fixed term contract. That got extended an extra 6 months but after that, they can't afford me so they're having to let me go. I work for the local council you see so I'm a victim of the budget cuts.

I am sure there will be a thorough investigation as it was a listed building, apparently.

I've just been to a talk from a holocaust survivor... Proper eye opening stuff. She is an 85 year old lady who was sent to Auschwitz when she was 14. A real harrowing story.

The signs, they do not lie.

It sounds like I will still have a job which is a good start. Whether or not it's somewhere I'll want to continue working will become apparent over the next couple of months.

Yeah, that about sums it up.

It could have been very obvious that unemployment beckons, which doesn't seem to be the case, so that's a positive, and there will be a lot of interesting work to do over the next few months which is another big plus. If nothing else, it's stuff that will look good on a CV if I bail out.

On the down side, it means a longer commute and working for a new employer that's an unknown quantity.

I'll see how it goes I suppose.....

I had to explain to someone last night why I was wearing a T Shirt with "No Friends" written across the front. "Because, aged 19 I was in the vanguard of style and have remained at the tip of the fashion lance since then". Millenials, eh?

Not sure if it's been posted 'cause I'm on my blower but EA are giving away NFS : Most Wanted on Origin.

Does anyone know what the proper name is for the rectangular cards that you can get to write notes on? I can only think of them as cue cards. Wilkos didn't have any and eBay just brings up pre printed ones.

Thanks! :)

We think someone at work has lost their laptop. If it did have tracking software installed on it, when do you think that would kick in?

It needs a username and password to access so if it was found by someone, they'd only be able to get to the log in screen and no further unless they knew what they were doing.

If the disk isn't encrypted, it's a 5 minute job to get access to everything on there. What sort of tracking software is installed?

That's the thing. I don't know for sure it has any... I'm guessing the chances of finding it are slim if someone has picked it up.
