I'm bored with going out.
I'm bored with staying in.
I'm bored with playing games.
I'm bored with watching TV.
I'm bored with reading books.
I'm bored with going to work.
I'm bored with seeing friends.
I'm bored with my own company.

Bored, bored, bored. Does anyone else suffer this general boredom problem from time to time? There's nothing that's particularly causing this, I just feel like I'm stuck in a rut at the moment. Any advice for dragging me out of this malaise? I'm not particularly depressed or anything. Just bored.

So, so bored.

It's not just you. I'm bored enough to be thinking about telling the French girl in our office the joke about the guy with the massive orange for a head, simply so I can have her stare at me blankly, having not got it at all.

'Course they do, which is why we even have a fancy word for it and everything. 'Tis part of being human. You need to do something different -- go somewhere different, vary your daily routine or something. Walk out of work at lunchtime and walk in some direction you've never walked in before. Go for a drive to some nearby town you've never visited before. Take a camera and look for sharp things. Stuff like that.

Roll up your sleeves, or eat an orange.

You could try creative writing. That might get you hooked and you'll be making things!

I was going to say that all these suggestions sound like something out of the Little Book of Calm...

Seriously though, I appreciate them. I'll try to give something a go tonight, as another evening of excruciating boredom put up with I can't.

At the moment I have no boredom to speak of, because I've got far too much DIY to do whiich is more enjoyable than it is annoying. However I'd better plan ahead because once the DIY runs out I might find myself short of things to do. Fun things, at least.

Myps how about some gardening or start some home brew.

Alternatives: Shave your head. Cross dress. Crack one off.

My over active imagination, my 'soon to be dad' status and gaming addiction means I'm rarely bored these days.

I get this all the time. At least once a week, in a seriously bad "hit" all in one go. I usually make silly noises at the missus and annoy her :)

For more...non-confrontational methods of getting rid, I go for a walk in the park, buying some drinks and/or sweets on the way and just saunter through. I tend to keep a bookmark for "Rainy Sunday" style days, which I can idly read through. Stuff like Acts of Gord I can sit and re-read on days like those.

I've decided I'm going to get my guitar out and write some new songs. I haven't done that for a couple of years (in fact, I haven't played much at all over the last year or so).

Phone that person that you keep meaning to phone, but get all embarassed and self-recriminatory at how long it's taken you to call, so put it off longer.

They won't be annoyed. They'll be happy, and so will you.

I get ennui sometimes. It is distinct from depression.

Some form of physical exercise, a long walk or something, can often help. As can pleasant or relaxing company. If you have a friend you can just be with, not necessarily have to talk or anything, but just chill, that can also help.

I think I'm bored the only interesting thing I could come up with was 'panda' and not even in any type of context

I don't even like pandas, not after the pop incident last summer :(

I've spent pretty much my whole life so far alternating between being bored out of my mind and wanting stuff to happen, and having so much complicated crap to worry about that I look back fondly on the days where I was the least interesting person alive.

If you live vicariously through friends, you get both at once!

That is exactly what I'm feeling. I have my own crap to deal with, and I am quite literally incapable of refusing if someone turns to me for help. Even if I'm aware it may fuck me up, i will still do it.

Thankfully, the person I'm helping out most at the moment understands this, and it's becoming something mutually beneficial. I think, or hope, or whatever.

I also need sleep, but have too much on my mind...

One day I shall post a happy thought on this forum...

I have taken today off work, and I still have a bad back from last week which means that doing anything involving movement is painfully unconfortable. Added to that the hayfever appears to be through the roof the last couple of days so I'm hiding inside trying to avoid the pollen.

The combination of these factors has led to me sitting here bored out of my mind, bereft of possible entertainment. Help.

Make a giant hayfever tablet.

Actually. Do you have a disclaimer on Pimp that Snack saying "Don't make giant medicines, because that will kill you?" People can be stupid with giant things. You could write a "don't make this" section. Unless you already have, in which case you could write a new one.

My sleeping patterns are so off-whack (I just woke up today, worryingly) that I get massive ennui all the time, which I find very difficult to solve.

I had the day off work due to fedupness. I have been very fed up lately, I've even mostly been too fed up to play cod4. I was trying to think of something new to do but I can't be bothered doing anything. Despite being paid today, I can't be bothered shopping or ordering loads of stuff I don't need off the internet. I made a little blue elephant last week and even though he is ace and probably needs a friend, I can't be bothered.

I am fed up.

I went to the gym, survived, but my feeble muscles are still aching at the unexpected exercise.

I just had to sprint across town in 5 minutes flat to catch a train, in the blistering heat. Managed to catch it and spent the whole journey back sweating furiously (ha).
