Heh. I watched half of s01e03 and there were tons. Glad to hear they tone it down as it's just irritating. I quite like his odd speech patterns aside from the burping!

Latest episode was incredible. Funny in the usual way, but also had some very interesting stuff with the characters.

It was different for Rick & Morty and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The burp count was high so it may not be for everyone who doesn't like Rick burps. Also, there's some farts.

4 farts I think but I wasn't counting cause I was enjoying the story. #4artwatch

I think I've watched all but one of the episodes of season one and two... It's still alright, innit?

The best episode is the "Mr Poopybutthole" one.

Is it me or do the ones with the A & B plots have one good plot and one pretty weak one? For example the Mr Meseeks (look at me!) Plot is pretty damn good, while the other plot is really fucking weak, and basically exists for the King Jellybean stuff.

I tried watching it, and couldn't get past part-way through s1ep3. It's just too gross and cringy. It sort of reminded me of Ren and Stimpy in the way it made me not want to watch it. But I was about 11 when Ren and Stimpy was on, and there was nothing else on tv so I made myself watch it, like a fucking masochist.

There was one particularly gross weird episode that featured rubber nipples, they must've said those words in every sentence. And for some reason, there was a man wearing them as knee warmers... I don't know man, it was bloody weird. I feel kinda violated just remembering it.

Ren and Stimpy? Squirrel chewing on exposed dental nerves. What the fuck? Scarred for life.

Rick and Morty has finally clicked during the second half of season 2. Yay!

Ren and Stimpy was glorious for 3.5 seasons.

I've now watched all the episodes. I sort of get it now. I enjoyed most of the episodes anyway, but I see why it's special.

I do worry that people aren't getting that Rick is a massive cunt, and sure he kicks ass, but he's not supposed to be a hero.

There's a lot of terrible neckbeardery going around about the show in general and yeah, loads of people not getting the point at all.

I am almost through season one. It has hits and misses. The episode that is just them improvising tv ads for the entire time is odd.

My favourite line so far is:

"I'm Mister Crowbar, and this is my friend... who is also a crowbar."

Also that was my favourite episode so far.

I didn't find that whole segment in any way funny.

It was scarily reminiscent of some of the writing that a friend of mine used to do back in my writing days. I knew he should have stuck with it and not become a teacher!

It's slick, clever and funny, and uses scifi elements to good effect. It's right up my alley, humour-wise. It doesn't mean I think Rick is some kind of awesome guy though. He is a deeply flawed character, but usually comes good eventually.

It's a bit like when people used to cheer on Alf Garnett's racism. Except now, thanks to the wondrous improvements to all of society brought to us by the internet, they can make themselves heard.

Episode 2 was pretty good. Jerry is as great as ever. The last two episodes have had a manic pace about them, which I like, but it no longer feels as fresh as the first couple of seasons. The audience will eventually tire of just random meaningless adventures; it needs to get back to a common story now. Maybe next week, aye...that’d be good.

I have skipped past this on Netflix so many times and thought 'one day, I'll watch this' but then ended up going with BoJack Horseman for my adult animation series fix.

I think I'll take a few more weeks break, because at the moment I just can't muster up the enthusiasm to commit to anything long again, especially something zany and wacky but then after that I'll give Rick and Morty a go.

Bojack is also fucking superb, and apart from a few similarities between Bojack and Rick is a completely different show. We've got a thread somewhere so I won't go on about it too much.

Author:  Sir Taxalot [ Tue Jun 22, 2021 15:29 ]
Post subject:  Re: Rick and Morty

I have to say that Bojack left me feeling pretty wrung-out, partially because of how fantastic it was but also how heavy it was in places too. Watching all of the series in quick succession was kind of exhausting. A good exhausting, mind.

Something rather different may be a bit of a palate cleanser but I still need to muster the enthusiasm to get stuck in.
