Hello,

I may be about to make myself look like the biggest idiot in history, but I am sure that there must be an easy way to achieve this. I want to put a table into a web page but I hate creating tables and did the initial calculation to finish the calculations in Excel. I have saved these as values so the final table is just eh data with no calculation. I am certain that there has to be a simple way of just saving this as the basis of the HTMl table because I HATE creating HTML tables.

So I have chosen save > save as HTML. Sounds obvious. But when I open this is just displays the table back to me rather than the code. How do I get to that?

Do you ever write something and then have a moment of glaring clarity the very second you finish saying it? Of course, if there's a better way, do let me know anyway.

I'll be back later with another very useful and interesting thread!

This is why I delay sending my emails for 2 minutes in outlook.

We used to have a toy monkey called Gimp Chimp at work, and people had to ask it their IT-type questions before they could ask the IT team. About half the time they'd figure out the answer as they verbalised the problem.

There's probably a name for that.

(If you've ever heard me say "Good one, Gimp Chimp" then this is why)

I love this!

I think you are right... I think there must be something in the process of converting abstract thought into phrasing that will convey what you are trying to achieve to others that helps fire up the connections in the brain to bring about the answer.

A brief google suggests psychology agrees but science is undecided.

Cardboard programmer.

You ask for help off your colleague, and by the time you've explained it all to them you've realised the problem, so you might have well explained it to a cardboard cut-out of a programmer.

What an excellent idea.
I might have to change the name, but the process is sound.

There is a Wordpress plugin call Table Press that converts xls or csv files to tables and displays it on a page.

https://tablepress.org/

Can be seen in use here

No problem. There are Wordpress plugins for pretty much everything. Mark G told me about this one.
