So, it's gone 3:20am and I've been awake hours, so excuse me if this makes little sense or is autocorrected to something else, but I can barely see...

We've watched the first few Episodes ;3) if a show called something like 'Press Record on TV).

Basically, it's a long running (8, 10 year?) project of Joseph Gordon Levitt and someone else, maybe gus bruit get. Can't remember.

So, for the past however many years they've had this website whereby anyone can join to collaborate in group projects: to make animations, write songs and produce music, make short films... Whatever. So, an animation night be made of the individual character and element drawings of 50 people, voice over by someone else, produced by someone else, script by someone else... Etc.

By the way, Joseoh Gordon Levit plays the young lad in 10 Things I Hate About You... The one who is acting as a French Tutor for the younger sister. He's in Looper, and other stuff.

Anyway... This guy is horrendously annoying. Not only is he quite beautiful anyway, but in the first episode he takes part in the music collaboration by just popping down at the piano and then carries off the song with absolute panache.

Next episode he takes part in a song and dance number where he seems to out sing and dance some kind of music hall or musical star, tap-dancing and swaying like a young Fred Astaire.

Then in the third there's a song that he takes part in, but he doesn't sing this time, or piano, just makes his way to the back and drums like its his full time job. Not just keeping time: he's a stunner.

And he somersaults in the dance number. And he acts, obviously, and is a natural presenter, and started this big idea in the first place.

Anyway, it's on Netflix if you're bored. Episodes are 20 minutes, so perfect to pass a bit of time, and I defy you to not come away after 3 episodes feeling a little bit in love. Russell and I both have. He's just so annoyingly talented that you kind of have to love him.

Just found it. It's 'HitRecord on TV.'

I remember him first from 'Third rock from the sun,' one of my all time favourite shows.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll have a look later.

You may hate it, but I bet you'll find it difficult to hate him.

Actually, you'll hate him a bit for being too talented, but only because you'll want to marry him.

No, Heath Ledger is perfect in 10 Things I Hate About You. Jason Gordon Levitt is very much not cool. The whole point is that he is not 'cool'. That you think he is cool... explains a lot.

Which Jeremy Paxman would educate us is pronounced 'Don Jew-an'

I've not heard of that, either. I've not seen many films he's been in, really. Maybe just 10 Things I hate About You ( :luv: ) and Looper. I think it was called Looper, anyway, or maybe that was the other one. I don't know, we watched a few time travelly things in a short time and they are all confused in my head.

I studied Don Juan (the epic poem, not the movie) for A Level English, and our teacher also insisted on this pronunciation. He also insisted on calling Don Quixote - Don Quick-sote

I think Paxman uses the Quick-sote pronunciation of Quixote, too. Was Paxman your teacher, perchance?

We had an ongoing English Lit/drama teacher battle over the correct pronunciation of Lysistrata, with the former insisting on Lis-is-tra-ta (all short vowels, stress on second syllable) and the latter Lye-sis-traa-ta (with stress on the third). They'd never outright correct each other, but they'd become increasingly persistent in their pronunciation and stress thereof:

In Lis-is-tra-ta we come to a scene where...
Yes, well what we learn in Lye-sis-traa-ta...
So, back to Lis-is-tra-ta!...

Until by the end they were just bellowing.

'Correct' in that it fits with our own phonics, but whether the Anglicised version is 'correct' I am not so sure. Most countries will impose their own naming conventions on other countries and their cities and towns, Londres/London, but they usually have opposing spellings as well.

I'm not sure names (of people) are quite the same. I usually try my best to pronounce a person's name as close to the pronunciation they use themselves in any case.

I e seen that on Betfkix: he's shay given his head in the still, yes? I may watch it whilst Russell is at work one day this week then.

Will it make me cry, though? (Note: I haven't been able to bring myself to watch any more of Finding Nemo since the fish got lost, and I couldn't breathe because of tears. That was before I was pregnant. I now have hormones to contend with in s art quantities. Will 50:50 make me cry? If it will I'll wait a while :)

It did when I couldn't see my bowl of cereal (belly... Short arms) so poured the last 40ml of milk in the house all over the counter, and then had to eat my chocodiles (cocoa pops, shaped like crocodiles, folks!) dry. Sad times.

Has anyone tried this HitRecord thing? Saw a promo video with JGL doing the rounds yesterday and he was persuasive enough for me to take a look and sign up.

Not expecting to make any money out of it, but the little challenges seem like a nice way of giving the creative muscle a bit of a workout.

Will report back on any successes.
