Playstation VR is apparently by booking only.

Booking opened 2 weeks ago.

Now closed.

Shitheads.

Plus there's only 2 sodding helmets.

That's disappointing. One of the things I wanted to try.

Cuphead: very pretty but not very exciting.

Super Hot: really fucking interesting. I really liked this and got bags of time on it.

I played the protoype of this and I just couldn't quite 'get' it; I got shot a lot and didn't really grasp how it worked.

The demo I played had a fair few levels just walking you through the mechanics and how time stays still unless you move. What I played was really interesting. There was no one on it when we rocked up (and only one Xbox with it on).

The demo had two playable levels I think. One was a sideways shoot em up and the other a two boss battle with no level to play through, just a big potatoe with two moves and a giant carrot with three moves, which wasn't very challenging (unless you've got cack hands, which apparently everyone in front of me did) but took ages to kill the bosses (who had no life bar so you never knew how far you were from killing them). I wasn't impressed at all.

And for the first year the queues for CoD were tiny. The beta appears to have killed interest in the game. Hopefully this will be the year when CoD takes a major dip in sales.

Oh, and I wouldn't call this "a looker" by the way. It looked like, erm, Watchdog perhaps? It certainly didn't look anywhere near, say, GTAV levels of wow.

Couple of games of the year contenders:

1) Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Ok, more of the same perhaps but I'm going to be well upset that Xbox owners get to play this month's before I'll be able to.

2) Just Cause 3.

Just Cause 2 again (there's a theme to new big budget games, right? No new ideas) but this one is so explodey and so much fun to doss about in (as ever) that it's bound to be brilliant.

Multiple tethers is the best thing ever. EVER. One tether was good but, wow, this is fun city.

The queues were crazy today by the way. I pity you Saturday goers. :(

I suggest you play Just Cause 3 since you get 20 minutes play, the queues weren't bad at the start of the day (everyone rushed to play Battlefront. 2 hour queues!?) AND you get a goody bag with a free Google Cardboard.

Not one other single other game had a goody bag. Disappointing on the swag front this year.

EDIT: might help if I give you directions:

From the entrance - go left and head all the way down to the bottom (about half way down you reach a wall, just follow it along and continue to the left) through the over 18's area. When you get in the over 18's it's immediately on the left. You're welcome.

Also, please remember to watch the cosplay masquerade at 3PM. You're guaranteed to experience a range of emotions from sadness to sexual arousal. Not exclusively either.

Katsumi from Dead or Alive was especially good yesterday with her great bosoms but woefully inept ninja skills when she almost fell off the stage twice.

I went today and yeah, the queues were massive on everything! I didn't bother with a lot of games because I'm not standing in a queue with a bunch of blokes who don't seem to think personal hygiene matters. Seriously, even on the shuttle bus on the way to the event, some guys stunk! What's wrong with having a shower in the morning? Honestly... Anyway, the event was alright. The queues put me off a lot of things but I played Cuphead so I was happy. Also, I met Big Boy Barry...

I hate to say it, but yes it will... I watched a bit of the Division through a fence at one point before realising the queue had a sign saying "3 hours from this point"

I can imagine Saturday being just as bad as today if not worse. Thursday was by far the best day by a county mile.

I'd recommend getting around Gang Beasts though. 8 player fights with ransoms just jumping on and off. It was a joy to play with others gathered around just having a great laugh. It was as much fun to watch as it was to play.

The best thing about this was wandering around and slagging everything off with myp. It was shit and pointless and all the major exhibitors need a fucking kick in the balls for not knowing how to advertise. I get that actual hands on time with games is limited but will we at least have big screens up so the people not playing the games can watch the people who are? God no! We'll make it all weirdly secret squirrel so no one can actually see the fucking product we're supposed to be advertising unless they queued up for like four fucking hours or booked a slot weeks in advance because that apparently makes more sense somehow. Oh, and the really interesting stuff that benefits from time spent properly experiencing it like VR helmets; how many of those should we bring with us? Bearing in mind that everyone is clamouring for a shot and we're going to want them all to buy one pretty soon. Fuck, I dunno, how about fucking *two*? That sounds like enough right? Yeah, fucking two, that'll do it!

Pricks.

What did you get on? Did you do any indie games? Did you go in the fight zone and smash ransoms on Street Fighter IV Ultra (or Myp)? Did you get any swag? Did you play any games in the retro area? Did you play Gang Beasts with randoms? Did you watch the Cosplay girls? Did you play Just Cause 3?

I watched some PlayStation VR, by the way. Some guy was driving a car with one hand and shooting stuff out the window with his other hand. It looked mightily impressive, which makes it all the more baffling why it had such a pointless showing. That could have definitely worked with a big screen showing what was happening.

We all watched and played Gang Beasts for a while and it was indeed excellent (and hilarious) - not sure if it'll have longevity though.

It was basically 3 hour queues for everything and none of us had the stupiditywillpower to do that. We had a go on the Oculus at the Gamer's Charity stall, and Bamba played some indie thing. Then I tried queuing for Guitar Hero Live as the line didn't look too long, but gave up after about 10 mins.

It was a fun experience in of itself (mainly due to good company) but I'm not sure I'd go again.

Yeah, this sums up exactly how I felt about it. Though reading this thread reminds me that I did mean to track down and try out SuperHot and never bothered so possible I should've been more prepared with a list of stuff to look out for.

That's a good point. I probably should have been more prepared but I didn't know what to expect from the day. I did have a good time but like Futurewarrior said, the company helped.

I'll probably go again next year though if only because it's a day off work.

You realise that you can take a day off work and not go to an event you don't really care about? I know, it's crazy what you can get away with these days!

OutRun 2 and SP are far easier games to get to the finish line.

Here's a game you gotta look out for Beexers: Detroit. The new David Cage game about androids. I played the hostage negotiation segment and it was absolutely wicked; really engaging, very David Cage, and with lots of right stick movement to do stuff.

The rocking cab or full 360 cage?

Remember seeing that at Mr Bs in Blackpool. Was £1 a go when all the standard games where 10/20p!

I enjoyed them both, though on paper I'm slightly mystified as to why. And apparently not enough to play his last one (the one with Ellen Page, what was it called?). I like that he does different shit from everyone else though so I'm always at least interested in his stuff.
