I've just been asked to take someone's place at a conference in London this Wednesday.
Anyone around for early evening drinks (maybe food too) before I head back to the Shire?

I taught The Child to puff out her cheeks and spit a dummy out in a massive raspberry. MrsA not amused. We also played the shouting game a lot yesterday where you run into a room and shout and run out.

Mine pointed at Jeremy Corbyn on the telly the other day and shouted "daddy". Not impressed. Last time it was Bernard Cribbins from Old Jack's Boat.

My niece once pointed at a picture of Harold Shipman on the front page of our local rag and shouted "Uncle Dave!"

And boy, do we never let him forget it.

Half cab vans (laced to only 2 from the top), boot cut jeans, red cheese cloth jumper over a robot t shirt will mark me out as the best dressed netrunner tonight. After I take off my red cagoule.

MaliCool is coming to Leeds again.

He had posted this kind of crap before, and lots of comments where it was originally shared were definitely serious.

That's truly breath-taking. I can't imagine knowing someone in real life who's that stupid.

ETA: I mean the original image is so obviously a piss take but if your 'friend' generally shares this stuff then presumably he's taken it seriously and that's just terrifying.

I've never met him in person - he's on a car forum I use and I acquired him as an FB friend a while back - but he's "liked" enough nonsense in the past to make me think it's serious.

Let's face it, there's a lot of idiots that believe everything Britain First post.

I de friend anyone sharing anything from Britain First. No exceptions.

Also anyone that falls for any obvious Facebook scams like the "Apple have 1000 iPads that they cannot sell because they've been opened so will give them away to random people who have liked this page" bollocks.

I've got one friend that I've known for the best part of twenty years that's sailing close to the wind. She's never posted anything this bad but has shared some "funny" pictures which are pretty intolerant. That's an argument I'd rather not have at the moment. Poor form on my part, but hey ho....

I didn't watch it myself but holy shit does the BBC's GTA programme sound like the worst kind of crap:

My GF recorded it for me as it sounded (rightly) like the kind of thing I'm interested it. I'm going to have to watch it now to see just how bad it is.

Jem and I took a quick look at BBC Three's "Girls Can Code" last night. A programme about getting more girls into coding and development? Sounds awesome.

We lasted about 5 minutes - perhaps unfairly - but it seemed like it was going to be some bizarre Apprentice-lite where a group of 5 "tech-savvy" girls (and by that, it seemed to mean girls who knew how to use Snapchat, Instagram, and how to blog) have to start up a digital business and make a success of it, with no prior knowledge.

I can't help but feel that was a bit of a wasted opportunity.

The concept, I thought, was a bit weak. However, it did have 2 of my favourite comedians and 4 of my favourite science/maths presenters in it.

Is it Monkey Cage but on TV? Was he rude about things that are not physics? His bemusement as to when a strawberry was dead was one if the funniest things I have heard. And he spells knobbers with a K.

Oh I thought the show could work, IF it had someone with actual presenting skills doing it. Gaz said Dara O'Briain, which I thought was a good shout.

Science club is monkey cage on TV. This was a seemingly pointless science focussed QI. Which would make sense if QI didn't do science.

Another day, another set of redundancies here at Evil Inc. Thankfully only one guy from my extended team has been affected but that's only because we've lost a couple of people through internal moves recently. Which, of course, means we're now not going to be replacing those people even though we could sorely do with the resource. Also, of all the people in the team, there are a lot I'd happily chuck under a bus before I even got close to the guy who ended up getting it in the neck but I'm not privvy to the criteria used.

30k to go at my place (worldwide). The fun never stops.

The 'funny' thing is that we're also right in the middle of a massive recruitment drive, which does mean the affected guy will almost certainly just move to do the same role with a team like 100 yards away. Still quite shitty for him though.

I can sort of understand a teacher being paranoid about seeing wires and clockwork mechanism etc and the head investigating, but surely after they saw it was a clock they would have released him, or done some testing or whatever. But surely you only actually arrest him after it's been confirmed that it was a bomb?
