What looks to be an air ambulance has just landed in the street outside the restaurant we are in.

And testament to German efficiency, it's gone before I typed this.

Airwolf ended up as a German air ambulance which crashed and killed everyone on board.

Happy Christmas!

Not been to either, but Doc speaks quite highly of Burger and Lobster, I think.

Think we're going to give that a go unless anyone has any better suggestions? I'm determined to try lobster!

Anyone interested in a Hori fighting stick for the Xbox 360? (it's USB so feasibly could work on a PC or other USB consoles?)

I should work on a Windows 8 PC with no faff, on Windows 7 you may have to install some Xbox 360 driver (not sure), but there's a good chance it won't work on anything else, since Xbox 360 controllers need special support from drivers.

I ebayed mine (May 2013) and it sold for £26 - I actually got just over £18. If that's a guide.

I've got an exciting new house phone - the BTouch. Exciting because it transfers call direct to your mobile no matter where in the house you are via the blueteggies. Fucking amazing. Technology aye? It's all kinds of special.

Excellent tractor-y stuff. Love the exhaust fabrication, and especially the little 'un.... my eldest grandson would sell his soul for that! :)

Just failed to get a GP appointment because I didn't know what a 'routine appointment' was as opposed to an 'emergency appointment'. Why didn't they just offer me the option of 'probably not going to die or be seriously damaged today, but these symptoms are concerning and I'd like to discuss them now, rather than in two weeks when they'll probably just have disappeared as mysteriously as they arose'.

Will give it a day or so to see if it goes, then either see a pharmacist or just use the drop-in-and-wait service.

See, the last sentence sounds more like 'we are beginning to get on'. 10 years after I started cycling to work, I still haven't gone for cleats.

I wouldn't clip in when cycling to work through traffic - too much potential for disaster - but I'm fine when out for a gentle ride at weekends.

Went to the theatre yesterday to see 'Peter Pan Goes Wrong', in which an amateur theatre company tries to put on a panto traditional Christmas vignette. You could see most of the stuff (sets collapsing, poor control of flying wires, artistic differences between the cast, missed cues, general slapstick) coming from a mile off, but that didn't matter: I laughed very hard and very loudly throughout.

I started cleating last week and I can't say I like it. Went for a pedal with cleats on one side, flat on the other, because I cycle my daughter to nursery and don't want to cleat in for that. Which means I spend a lot of time trying to work out if I'm on the right side of the pedal to get the cleat in or not.

I just find it makes me constantly anxious, especially when cycling down the hellmouth of the Old Kent Road. Think I might give the chap in the bike shop another packet of biscuits to swap back to my old pedals.

Wow

I used to spend ages practicing track stands, back in the 70s. Pity I wasn't actually that good a racing competitor as well. Went straight from two hands to none, IIRC, but never tried one footed. Bloody show_offs.

Sartorial disaster of a short sleeved shirt today due to temperature. Very embarrassing, but practical choice.

I might brew some beer tonight, as I missed the window for the BeexBQ, I might as well try to have some laagered for the cottage.
