Yes, it is, apparently.

Nice.

I'm not 100% sure what to do. Apart from letting MrsA deal with it, asking for the biter to be removed, and asking the parents when their child last had an HIV test

Call a PI lawyer for SUPPORT.

There's nothing like litigation to solve/exacerbate a problem.

I'd be asking if the kid had bitten anyone else, and if so why s/he wasn't being more closely supervised as s/he's clearly a danger

A quick google suggests that this is an extremely common thing to happen. Probably not much help except for the knowledge that this almost certainly won't be the first time the nursery have dealt with it.

Two kids enter. One kid leaves.

But yeah, they will likely know if there is a problem child doing the biting, and should be raising it with the parents (who are probably even more mortified).

Yeah, this is pretty much how it is. As Cras suggested, M isn't the only kid who has been bitten and the biter is getting 1 to 1 attention...

MrsA is going to chat to the manager tomorrow and we'll see. Obviously we're not at all happy with M coming home with a crescent of teeth marks across her nose and a cut to the side, and this is the 4th incident in 4 weeks.

They did. The parents then bit them until they changed their mind.

Went to the theatre last night to see 'Handbagged!'. It's a comedic romp through the Thatcher years done as a series of dialogues between the Queen and Mrs T, with older versions of Maggie and Brenda looking on, interacting with the others, and commenting throughout. Two male cast members perform every other role (eg, Kinnock, Gerry Adams, Ronald & Nancy Reagan, etc). It was very funny throughout, and the obvious awareness of the fourth wall was effectively played with to add to the effect.

This is really odd.

I'm in a pub. I have beer in me. My stomach is rumbling something chronic because all around me are people eating chips and chicken and things.

But I can't bring myself to order food.

In fact I might just go home, via tesco to pick up beer and a couple of buckets of wings to cook when I get there.

Even though this pub now does 30 wings for a tenner.

I should have eaten in the pub. There's a massive bowl of wings and a smaller one of chips in the kitchen that I just cannot face eating.

And I ruined one of our posh Japanese knives while cutting the wings up. Fuck.

Meta data means we worked out who it was and M is under instruction to pooh in their shoes. We think she understood as she ran round in circles and used an imaginary hair dryer for a bit. MrsA reminded nursery if their duty of care and how she prefers M unbitten and used her serious voice so now the dogs are howling at the moon. We'll see how it goes. In other news, we have the services of the grumpy solicitor to handle the house stuff and £400 for an equity transfer all in is pretty good as £60 of that is hearing about the state of the conveyancing industry.

I mentioned this to my wife who is a teacher and she said you should get Ofsted involved. The fact it's happened before, several times, means that the nursery aren't doing their job properly.

Rather than go in with guns blazing and threats of Ofsted, ask the nursery to give step by step plans to deal with this. Ask if the parents of the child doing the biting have been informed and if they are working with the child to reach and intervene.

Read this for a basic understanding of why children bite: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/a1022215/bi ... t-it-age-2

Don't jump to conclusions as to which child is to blame or misjudge the parents. They are likely to be very upset and worried, and need support, too.

Slightly related, but with a different outcome, my sister almost lost her then job as a childminder for a C List celebrity because my nephew bit the C lister's child. C List did not want nephew to be near her child any more, words were said, names were called, tears were had. Then C-List's child was bit by her cousin as well. Nanny cams showed C-List child biting her own arm. Bites were always on arm, always self inflicted. Much apology, then C-List child started biting nephew. They are tricksy little buggers. But eventually close observation, learning and understanding helped put an end to it.

Much love to your wee'an. She's a beautiful little poppet xxx

I did say right at the top that it was only loosely related due to an obviously different outcome, so I was not suggesting that in any way.

It's a quandary. I need to have the confidence that steps taken (1 to 1 attention to the biting child, remove her if she is showing signs) to prevent this will be adhered to. If it does happen again, then there is a further (fifth) failing in a duty of care there, and we would have to reconsider our options.

I think going to OFSTED could sour the relationship if done too soon, but that doesn't mean we would not consider that option. Currently, we'll see what happens with this new regime and keep asking for updates. If we think need to remove M, which we don't want to do, we will. Obviously, the best solution from my point of view is to remove Bitey, but we cannot make that decision to do so, and pressing for it would be counter productive at this stage.

Yesterday, I spent a good portion of time sewing a hem in a red curtain to be used in a statue unveiling today.

The event for the unveiling all went well and my curtain was even shown on the BBC 24 hour news channel.

I'm proud.
