I really dislike power armour in this.

I hacked a terminal to open a huge set of double doors in a factory. All that was inside was an angry behemoth. That's cheeky.

It's my favourite Fallout power armour because

1) it consumes resource, so I'm not tempted to lazily wear it all the time
2) it makes my HUD funny and it makes my character enormous in cutscenes and it makes my voice funny [1], so I really feel it when I'm in it
3) it costs lots of energy to sprint, so I have to stomp around slowly instead, which is fitting as I'm basically a walking tank now
4) because of all the above, there's a sense of occasion when I put it on
5) I think, because of the above constraints, it's much more powerful than in the other games (just a hunch but I seem to be untouchable when I'm inside it)

Or to put it another way: power armour in Fallout 4 feels like much more than a set of really big numbers on my character sheet. And I think that's ace.

[1] I actually remove my power armour helmet when I'm talking to people!

Whenever I'm wearing armour, I never wear the helmet. I very much feel you look a lot more like a donkey wearing the full armour suits.

So's your face.

Over the weekend I reached level 49. I have built multiple Emporiums in my base (Sanctuary) and started selling off the hojillion tons of random crap I have. I am sitting on 10k bottle caps and I've barely dented the stuff I have to sell. I guess I can stop scrounging and just buy shipments now. To that end, I've started to pivot my character to more of a solo stealth build -- plus I'm running out of interesting companions anyway. (I have the affinity for Piper, Deacon, MacReady, and Preston. I'm partway there with Danse and Curie. I also have Strong and Hancock but I don't care so much about them, although Hancock is quite funny.) I've taken Lone Wanderer I, will probably get II and Sneak soon.

I have Gun Nut 4 so my guns are now fearsome: I have a Violent .50 cal sniper rifle with long range recon scope for very long range work, Overseer's Guardian with a reflex sight and a silencer for close up, and The Last Minute (silenced, short recon scope) for serious shit-hits-the-fan moments eg. Surprise Deathclaw.

Silver Shadow was a great questline!

In the main quest line, I've reached...

the first time I have to pick between the factions -- building the teleporter. Genuinely uncertain who to go for. I favour the Railroad, but apparently the Brotherhood quests are good. I guess I'll have to make a save and come back to it later.

In the mean time, I went off and started Far Harbor, as I wasn't sure what to do.

Due to half five wake up times, I've picked this up again and gotten as far as getting into, and out again, The Institute. I am trying to have a bit of an explore, too, and found a Very Angry Sentry Bit this morning, and a robot racetrack. The Robot Racetrack pleased me, as I remembered life still goes on (unless I poison sword it) if a little crazily.

I am much enjoying it again and might buy DLC.

Smashy McBash has been hittimg the books and is now level 36 with INT 5, as you need science to tie things to a baseball bat.

Anyways, last night I had to

defend the Castle against Synths. It was a hella fight with my sword and I called in three WhirlyBirds to finally complete it
. How on earth you could do this as a stealth build I dunno.

After that GREAT VICTORY, i went exploring and one hit a load of Supermutants with my hammer. I think i am almost done with main quest now, then on to something else for a while until i play the DLC.

For the money, now, yes. It isn't as good as 3 or NV, it seems to lack some of their charm, dialogue choices are rubbish, but you can attach a sawblade to a hammer. And then, another.

Depends on what you didn't like about the previous games. It's a lot more focussed on combat this time around and like 99% of quests boil down to 'talk to someone, go to a place and kill the people they want killed, return to original person for reward'. So it's more streamlined in a way but it lacks in variety and I personally didn't feel anywhere near as compelled to spend time exploring the world as I did with previous games.

You don't need techno dicks except for a few games.

Feexed by the guy who refused to engage with the entire multiplayer component of Bloodborne.

Mind you, I agree that if you’ve got the cash for VR it does provide unique experiences for games despite not being “necessary” (whatever that means in the context of entertainment) so those without VR can still enjoy the vanilla experience.

Apart from Superhot, off the top of my head there's I Expect You To Die, Batman, Rec Room, Job Simulator. Hopefully soon, also Beat Saber. These games all leverage the inherently more natural-feeling technodicks to build more immersion and they simply don't work with a Dualshock.

Skryrim is (I am told) much better with technodicks too, and having tried both I much preferred Rush of Blood after I ditched the pad. And I cannot imagine playing Trek with a pad. It'd be hugely immersion breaking.

I think you're selling the platform short if you don't pick them up.

Don’t get mardy over it. I couldn’t care less whether you liked it or not. Fact is, you didn’t engage with the multiplayer aspect and wasted “part of the potential of the whole thing” which was amusing as you’re critiquing someone for something similar.

I read this as RoB the Robotic Operating Buddy from the NES as you could use a controller to play Gyromite instead of getting the robot to help.

I'm not in any place to advise because I've only played the games that actually appealed to me and found that almost none of them would really benefit from techno dicks?

In any case I'm only advising to go ahead and get a PSVR even if you can't afford techno dicks to go with it right away, because you'll have a great time and depending what sort of games you're even into you might never feel compelled enough to bother at all.
